Fans and pundits alike almost unanimously agreed Argentina, Brazil and Colombia were the three favourites to win this year's Copa America, and all three teams find themselves on the same side of the bracket heading into the knockout stages. No matter how you look at it, the favourites will have to do things the hard way if they want to emerge victorious.
Argentina's path to the title looks particularly daunting, via ESPN's Miguel Delaney:
Colombia have looked far from their best during the 2015 Copa America, lacking an edge in the attacking third and playing without inspiration, but they have the attacking firepower to flip the switch at any given moment.
Manager Jose Pekerman isn't ringing any alarm bells just yet, even after his team failed to score in a crucial patch against Peru, as reported by beIN Sports:
"I don't think we played badly. At times we did things well. This Copa America has these kind of games. 0-0 was not good. With the anxiety surrounding the result, it was not easy. So it worked well for Peru. The goal eluded us. We must be calm. We did enough to win.
"
Fortunately for Colombia, none of the traditional favourites really stood out during the group stages. Chile arguably looked the best side in their three matches, but all other main contenders showed at least some weaknesses.
Despite Argentina's ridiculous depth in the attacking third, the Albiceleste beat both Jamaica and Uruguay 1-0, finishing with four goals scored during the group stages. Before the start of the tournament, fans assumed the defence would be the squad's biggest concern, but lately, the attack hasn't held up its end of the bargain.

Brazil feared for a similar fate following the suspension of Neymar, but a fantastic performance from Willian against Venezuela finally gave the Selecao the creative spark they had been lacking for some time.
Brazil Global Tour's Rupert Fryer believes it has been a long time coming, and with Neymar set to miss the rest of the 2015 Copa America, Willian's role in the side should continue to grow:
Robinho and Roberto Firmino also put in tremendous efforts against Venezuela, but once again, the Brazilian defence showed a lack of concentration, allowing a late goal when no one reacted quickly enough during a routine set-piece situation.
Peru are an opportunistic side who will patiently wait for similar opportunities, so the Selecao better not lose focus.
Chile are the strong favourites on the other side of the bracket, but Bleacher Report's Rik Sharma believes Uruguay shouldn't be underestimated:
"They have more won Copa Americas than Argentina and Brazil, yet nobody would say that they are better than either of the two South American giants.
[…] Nobody will be looking forward to facing Uruguay in the next round of the tournament despite the fact that they finished third in their group.
"
Jose Gimenez enjoyed a tremendous breakout season for Atletico Madrid, and paired with team-mate Diego Godin, he gives the Uruguayans both tremendous defensive solidity and a powerful weapon on set pieces. The Chileans have done well to rally amid the controversy surrounding Arturo Vidal, reported by CNN International, but things won't come easy on Wednesday in Santiago.
Bolivia and Peru will meet in the last quarter-final, sending at least one unfancied side to the final four of the 2015 Copa America. Peru are slight favourites in this match, but at this stage of the competition, anything could happen.
