Quarter-Finals Within Reach for England and Norway

After a moribund showing in a loss to France in their first match of the competition, England have recovered tremendously. The win over Mexico seemed to settle the nerves of these players, and the first half against Colombia saw England at their very best, operating with an intensity and verve.
But as Bleacher Report's Andrew Gibney noted, in the second half, Sampson's side did struggle for impetus:
It's important they remain composed against Norway. While Colombia were impressive in bursts against England, the last 16 opponents will be a step up in class. But defender Alex Scott made no secrets of this team's ambition to go all the way to the final, per Glenn Lavery of TheFA.com:
"We want to be here until the final. That is our aim. We said that coming into the tournament, and once you're in it, it's not about going home. No-one wants to go home early.
I think we are really building momentum now. I think we are really growing into the tournament. We are going into the [Norway] game thinking 'we want to build on the Colombia performance and we want to progress in this tournament.'
"

As we can hear here, the England players are in positive spirits ahead of the game too:
With that in mind, the Lionesses will be looking to some of their key players to take control of the match at critical moments.
Fara Williams is one player whom Sampson will be desperate to have a good game. The Liverpool midfielder is the heartbeat of this England side, and in matches against Mexico and Colombia, she really drove the team forward. As OptaJoe noted, she loves the big occasion, too:
Even Pellerud's Norway side will be confident they can get the job done, though. Although they notched two stylish wins in the group, arguably their most impressive display came against Germany, as they grabbed a 1-1 draw.

In that match, the Scandinavians were dominated in the first period but showed the requisite fortitude to cling on in there. Then, in the second half, Norway took the game to the Germans, grabbing the equaliser they deserved.
It's clear the Norwegian public are in boisterous mood ahead of this one, too, as we can see here, courtesy of BBC Sport:
There are a few quality players Sampson will need to make plans for. England will need to smother Solveig Gulbrandsen, who loves to dictate the play from a deeper position, but arguably the most dangerous player in this Norway squad is teenage striker Ada Hegerberg, who has already netted three goals in Canada.

As we can see here, courtesy of Andrew Jerell Jones, the Lyon striker has tremendous predatory instincts:
England are likely to revert to a shape similar to the one that contained France for long spells, which is understandable given the superior quality the opposition possesses. But it's important the team don't get entrenched within their own half and allow Gulbrandsen to pass the Lionesses into submission.
If Scott and Steph Houghton can replicate the commanding performances at the back we've seen so far, England should be able to nullify Norway's attacking talents. Then it'll be up to the likes of Karen Carney and Toni Duggan to gobble up any chances that come their way.
It's going to be a tight one, but England's superior steeliness will see them through in 120 minutes.
Prediction: Norway 1-2 England (After Extra Time)
