Uruguay 1, Paraguay 1

Paraguay have not defeated Uruguay since 2007. Even though they'll have to wait a little longer, a 1-1 draw ensures that Paraguay are on to the quarter-finals.

The official's book was filling up early as Uruguay's Abel Hernandez received the game's first yellow card in the fifth minute after a rash challenge on Paulo da Silva. Nestor Ortigoza was booked for Paraguay four minutes later.

While Paraguay had the better start, albeit not by much, Uruguay were struggling to find their spark. And history suggested they would be in trouble. According to ca2015.com, Uruguay have only won one of their last eight final group matches of the Copa America.

Seemingly out of nowhere, Uruguay were in front. In the 29th minute, Jose Gimenez climbed high to head down a powerful ball past Justo Villar off a set piece.

Paraguay continued to press the issue, as a long throw in the 33rd minute and a free-kick in the 34th came close but amounted to nothing for the trailing side.

Villar denied Gimenez a second goal in the 38th minute off a corner after he won another header. The rebound went out to Diego Rolan, whose low shot rolled to Edinson Cavani. The striker could not direct his chance on target, just missing the goal by fractions.

A minute before halftime, Lucas Barrios found an equalizer for Paraguay off a corner where he was able to beat Gimenez to the chance.

The second half brought a more defensive approach from both sides as chances became sparse. Christian Stuani had an opportunity to put Uruguay in front in the 66th minute, but his header went wide.

Paraguay's only real chance of the second half came in the second minute of stoppage time when a shot from Derlis Gonzalez at the top of the 18-yard box was saved by Fernando Muslera.

The point apiece gives Paraguay five as they clinch a top-two spot in Group B. Argentina sit in third with four points.

Argentina 1, Jamaica 0

Argentina have won Group B after a dominating performance only yielded a 1-0 scoreline thanks to an 11th-minute winner from Gonzalo Higuain.

Higuain had Argentina asking questions of Jamaica right from the start. The striker managed to work his way into the Jamaican box thanks to Lionel Messi, who reached the 100th cap in his international career, but Higuain sent his shot wide in the second minute.

Three minutes later, the menacing Higuain had a shot deflected behind goal for a corner, but Argentina could not cash in on the set piece.

The Napoli forward finally broke through in the 11th minute after receiving a pass from Angel Di Maria, spinning with three defenders around and rolling the ball into the back of the net. It was Higuain's 24th goal for Argentina in his 50th appearance with the side.

Argentina continued to press as Jamaica were outmatched from the start.

Higuain was at it again in the 22nd minute, finding a through ball and chipping at Jamaican goalkeeper Dwayne Miller. It did not fall fast enough, however, and hit the crossbar.

Wave after wave of Argentinian pressure kept crashing down on Jamaica. Messi came close in the 34th minute, working his way onto that famed left foot and delivering a low shot that went wide. Higuain saw an effort go off the side netting in the 36th, while Di Maria had a chip cleared off the line in the 38th and a shot saved well by Miller in the 42nd.

Despite all the pressure, Jamaica were only trailing by a single goal at the half. But Argentina continued to push in the second.

Di Maria saw a left-footed effort go off the crossbar in the 52nd minute, and Messi had a chip thwarted by Miller in the 57th.

Jamaica registered a chance in the 67th minute when Deshorn Brown's shot went right at Argentina keeper Sergio Romero.

Positive play from Jamaica with 10 minutes remaining caused some nervy moments, especially in the second minute of stoppage time when they won a free-kick. Their free-kick was hit away by the Argentina defense, giving Jamaica a corner. The corner did not amount to anything in the last action of the game.

Ultimately, while unimpressive, Argentina's win was enough to carry them through to the knockout stage of the tournament.
