Best Golazos from World Football This Weekend

The domestic season may be over, but a plethora of international tournaments have certainly kept us entertained. 

Over the weekend, football fans were spoiled for choice with action from the Copa America, European U21 Championships, FIFA U20 World Cup and Women's World Cup. All but the latter have provided entries in our latest golazo ranking, which also features some MLS action and a name to remember for the future in Spain... 

9. Diadie Samassekou (Mali U20) vs. Senegal U20

Mali earned a third-place finish in the U20 World Cup with a 3-1 victory over Senegal in the third-place play-off match. 

Mali's third goal of the game was a beautifully worked free-kick that saw Adama Traore, who had scored both previous goals, set up Diadie Samassekou for a neat finish. 

8. Kevin Volland (Germany U21) vs. Denmark U21

Germany moved to the top of European U21 Championships Group A with a 3-0 victory over Denmark on Saturday.

Hoffenheim's Kevin Volland bagged two of the goals, the second of which was a lovely curling free-kick from around 35 yards. 

7. Sanna Nyassi (San Jose Earthquakes) vs. Seattle Sounders

The Seattle Sounders lead the MLS Western Conference, but a 2-0 home defeat to the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night threatened their sovereignty.

Both of the Californian sides' goals were excellent, starting with the well-taken 28th-minute opener from Sanna Nyassi.

6. Matias Perez Garcia (San Jose Earthquakes) vs. Seattle Sounders

San Jose's second goal against the Sounders was even better than the first, with Argentinean midfielder Matias Perez Garcia managing to shake off the advances of several Sounders defenders before confidently slotting past Stefan Frei.  

5. Gary Medel (Chile) vs. Bolivia

Chile cruised through to the quarter-finals of the Copa America on Friday evening with a rousing 5-0 win over Bolivia—who also managed to reach the knockout stage as Group A runners-up. 

The pick of the goals—and one of the best strikes of the tournament so far—was Chile's fourth, a very cheeky lob from fiery midfielder Gary Medel that was scored after an impressive run from the middle of the park. 

4. Jesse Lingard (England U21) vs. Sweden U21

England's second European U21 Championships game of the summer resulted in a 1-0 victory over Sweden.

The Three Lions' goal came from Manchester United youth prospect Jesse Lingard, who volleyed home from a corner in the 85th minute.  

3. Mamadou Saidou (Barcelona Juvenil A) vs. Real Betis

Barcelona's Juvenil A (U19) side advanced to the semi-finals of the 2015 La Liga Promises on Saturday with a comfortable win over Real Betis.

Our friends at 101GreatGoals.com uncovered a stunning goal from La Masia prodigy Mamadou Saidou, whose footwork managed to evade four opponents before he slotted home in style. 

2. Thiago Silva (Brazil) vs. Venezuela

Brazil earned a Copa America quarter-final tie against Paraguay with a 2-1 win over Venezuela in Santiago on Sunday evening.

Thiago Silva opened the scoring for the Selecao with a superb volley from a Robinho corner. 

1. Andreas Pereira (Brazil U20) vs. Serbia U20

FIFA crowned Serbia U20 World Cup champions on Saturday following an extra-time victory over Brazil. 

The Selecao went a goal down in the 70th minute but responded in emphatic fashion three minutes later when Andreas Pereira scored a solo stunner

The Manchester United midfielder—who also represented Belgium at youth level—picked up the ball on the left flank and proceeded to weave past several defenders before slotting it in at the keeper's far post.
