Brazil vs. Australia: Date, Time, Live Stream for 2015 Women's Soccer World Cup

Nick AkermanJun 21, 2015

Brazil are the only side yet to concede a goal in the 2015 Women's World Cup. Their unbeaten run through Group E has been rewarded with a tricky tie against Group D runners-up Australia, who won one, drew one and lost one to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition.

The winner of Sunday's early match will move on to the quarter-finals, where either world champions Japan or the Netherlands will await. Like Brazil, Japan also accumulated nine points through their opening three matches without needing to break a sweat.

While it's optimistic to call a potential tie with the Asian side a "reward," both Brazil and Australia will believe they possess enough quality to move into the final eight.

Will Marta Burst into Life for Brazil?

MONTREAL, QC - JUNE 09: Marta #10 of Brazil tries to move the ball past Shim Seojeon #4 of Korea Republic during the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup Group E match at Olympic Stadium on June 9, 2015 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Brazil defeated Korea Republic

We've yet to see the best of Brazil striker Marta at this year's tournament, perhaps an ominous sign for Australia.

She netted a penalty in the opening 2-0 win against Korea Republic but was rested during the side's third-match victory over Costa Rica. The five-time FIFA World Player of the Year and tournament's all-time top scorer will be ready to underline her name now that the stakes have risen.

Brazil won't be worried that Marta's penalty is her only shot on target at the Canadian tournament so far, per FIFA.com. This is a player who can change the flow of play by finding a pocket of space or initiating a subtle piece of skill. The United States found this out in the 2007 World Cup, highlighted below:

Quite often, Marta's quality is defined by how she brings others into play, something Brazil coach Vadao will be looking to utilise against an Australian team who have struggled for consistency since touching down in Canada.

The Matildas progressed through a competitive group, but they may worry over the 3-1 loss to the United States. Alen Stajcic's side got at the U.S. but were dismantled by the toughest attack they've faced so far thanks to two goals from Megan Rapinoe and a Christen Press strike. An in-form Abby Wambach and a healthy Alex Morgan may have upped the score even more.

However, Australia's 2-0 win over Nigeria and 1-1 draw with Sweden underlined the quality of this developing group. Nigeria were reduced to just three shots on target during their encounter, per FIFA.com, while an organised, conscientious display halted the ambition of Sweden last time out.

WINNIPEG, MB - JUNE 08: Lisa De Vanna #11 of Australia scores a goal against the United States of America during the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015 Group D match between the United States and Australia at Winnipeg Stadium on June 8, 2015 in Winnipeg,

Australia possess their own star in Lisa De Vanna, who has notched 37 international goals in 102 caps, recorded by FIFA. The 30-year-old captain has led the Matildas brilliantly so far, scoring two alongside Kyah Simon, who has two of her own. There are goals in this side, but Australia's chances rest on maintaining discipline at the back.

Simon's recent Instagram post suggested Australia are in a confident mood ahead of the tie:

"All the top teams are beatable by the next five or six in the pecking order—and I put us in that bracket," Stajcic told Bleacher Report's Tony Leighton. "Australia is a proud sporting nation renowned for being world leaders in various sports, and we want to add football to that."

Eliminating Brazil and once again halting Marta's dream of becoming a world champion would certainly be a huge step in the right direction.
