UK Back Pages: Manchester City Turn to Jack Wilshere After Failed Sterling Bid

As Liverpool have rejected Manchester City's £40 million overtures for wantaway attacker Raheem Sterling, the Manchester giants have turned their attention to another homegrown talent: Jack Wilshere. 

It's not the first time City and Wilshere's names have been linked together, but it seems as though their failed attempt at a Sterling bid has forced them to reignite their interest with the talented Arsenal midfielder. 

At least that's what Mirror Sport is reporting. The paper also reports that Aston Villa are targeting Tottenham's Andros Townsend.

Speaking of Sterling, according to the Sun's front page, the Englishman is caught up again in yet another "laughing gas" scandal.

Per Star Sport, Chelsea are looking at Rob Green as a potential backup to Thibaut Courtois, as the club seem ready to sell Petr Cech to Arsenal.
