Kane To Fire England To Glory?

It has been an incredible 12 months for Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane, rising from obscurity into Premier League superstar.

The 21-year-old Chingford-born player exploded on the EPL scene last term, proving himself to be one of the hottest attackers in Europe, and winning Young Player of the Year.

Kane's all-round game is what makes him special: He is not only a predatory finisher but he can operate across all of the attacking positions from left to right. He even has the acumen to play as an attacking midfielder.

England hasn't seen a young talent like this since Wayne Rooney, so this competition will surely be the last we see Kane play—out of the Roy Hodgson's full England line-up.

The player found himself on the Spurs bench for the early part of the season, but soon proved himself to become the first pick on the team sheet.

Kane hit 26 goals in 32 starts in the Premier League and Europe, per WhoScored.com, and has grabbed the interest of many of the world's top teams.

The Manchester Evening News (h/t the Independent's Tom Sheen) report Kane could be subject to a huge bid of £50 million-plus from Manchester United, as they look to make the striker their next superstar.

Indeed, Kane's status has been recognised by Sporting Intelligence, who highlighted the player is now considered the 15th-most-valued player in the world:

It has been a meteoric elevation for the youngster and it will be interesting to observe if he will have a difficult second EPL season, with his name in lights.

England under-21 boss Gareth Southgate highlighted how this tournament will be good for Kane's growth as he looks to mature into his new-found status, per Sky Sports:

"

He's had a fantastic season first and foremost and he's been a big part of our team and I think that's important for all of the group. (It's) a great stage for Harry to show people his ability on the international stage in a top tournament and good for his development, and good for the group so we're able to take as strong a squad as we can.

"

England are used to pre-tournament pressure whenever they travel to a major football championship, but on this occasion they can genuinely feel excited about their chances. Kane is the most potent striker in the competition and he will give the Three Lions the ammunition they need to progress.

With just eight teams at the championship, and a single-stage knockout semi-final round, England will know the format suits them if they can maintain their recent form—and utilise their dangerous striker.

All eyes will be on Kane throughout June, and Southgate will be hoping the player retains the magic he has displayed over the past few months.
