Germany kick-started their bid to win the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup with an ominous 10-0 thrashing of Ivory Coast. But a tame draw against Norway has dampened some of the enthusiasm created by that emphatic early result.

The Germans must now get past a tricky Thailand team to ensure top spot in Group B and qualification for the knockout phase. A stunning comeback win over Ivory Coast kept Thailand's hopes of qualification alive. It's certainly not a team the Germans can afford to take lightly.

As the top-ranked team in the world, Germany's players will be very disappointed with their inability to break Norway down in their last match. The Germans were on the front foot for most of the game, eventually amassing 27 shots, according to BBC Sport.

Despite the presence of prolific attackers Celia Sasic and the mercurial Anja Mittag, Germany couldn't muster the decisive finish. Regardless of this rare blip, it would be a brave person who bets on the Germans having the same trouble in front of goal again, especially with progression on the line.

Instead, it's safer to count on Sasic and Mittag returning to their free-scoring ways. The duo combined for six goals against Ivory Coast—Mittag got three of them, a hat-trick that's helped her to the top of the scoring chart at the tournament, per FIFA's official site.

But it isn't just the deadly double act up front that should have Thailand worried. Far from it.

Versatile midfield ace Simone Laudehr also has a real eye for goal. She's dangerous darting off the flanks, or making a late run from the middle.

Fellow midfielder Dzsenifer Marozsan is very gifted in possession and should be the chief supply line for the talented forward line.

With so much attacking talent to account for, Thailand must stay switched on at the back. But it will also be just as important for them to take full advantage of the few chances they are likely to get.

Orathai Srimanee will be a key figure in their quest for efficiency in front of goal. The forward bagged a brace in the 3-2 win over Ivory Coast. She'll need to be at her absolute best to get the better of a German defence expertly directed by famed goalkeeper Nadine Angerer.

With top spot at stake, Germany's brilliant squad will find its A-game. Their ability in attack will prove too much for an overwhelmed Thailand team.
