The Most over-the-Top Twitter Reactions to the USA's Victory over Germany

Suffice to say, it's been a strong few weeks for the USA in the beautiful game. Not long after the U.S. Department of Justice spearheaded the legal proceedings that have set the destabilisation of FIFA in motion, the men's national team came back from 3-1 behind to beat the Netherlands 4-3 in their own back yard.

Then, on Wednesday evening, Jurgen Klinsmann's side pulled off yet another incredible feat by coming back from behind to beat world champions Germany in Cologne...

Evidently, the United States is enjoying a bit of a purple patch...

America as a nation is rarely afraid to show hyperbole in the arms of success. Hence, many Americans voiced their feeling that these non-competitive victories over two nations who weren't fielding full-strength teams made them the best team in the world... 

The folks at SB Nation even went as far as to suggest a cheeky Stalin-esque revision of World Cup history...

Clearly, the response has been varied—and potentially smothered in irony—but the USMNT's recent form will almost certainly help them climb higher in the FIFA rankings, resulting in more kudos from the international football community. And more excuses to use memes like this...
