Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and More Named in Champions League 2015 Squad of Year
Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar all scored 10 goals during the 2014-15 Champions League, and unsurprisingly, all gained a place in the competition's squad of the year.
Instead of focusing on a starting XI, UEFA revealed its choices for the ultimate 18-man squad, as highlighted on Twitter:

Tournament winners Barcelona are the best represented with 10 players making it into the selection. Only attacking full-back Dani Alves missed out from the Blaugrana's usual line-up, a perhaps harsh judgement after his return to form.

No defender provided more than Alves' four assists throughout the tournament. As WhoScored.com noted, only Messi, Andres Iniesta and Porto's Hector Herrera finished ahead of him in the production ranks, setting up five goals each.
Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic scored one goal in the Blues' run to the round of 16 and, if this squad was made into a legitimate team, would be the man ahead of Alves.
Finalists Juventus are the next-best represented team with five players in the squad. Giorgio Chiellini missed the Berlin showdown but receives recognition for his leadership throughout the tournament. UEFA may have turned a blind eye to his hilarious handball during the clash with Monaco, as highlighted below:
Juve striker Alvaro Morata strode into life during the latter stages of the competition, netting three of his five goals from the semi-final onwards. The 22-year-old even grabbed two in two legs against former club Real Madrid to knock them out, a dramatic turn of events considering he won the trophy with them in 2014.
Interestingly, the youngster is selected in this 18 over team-mate Carlos Tevez, who finished with more goals and assists.
Classy midfielders Andrea Pirlo and Claudio Marchisio back up Morata's presence, as does goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, who still hasn't added the title to his considerable list of silverware.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Toni Kroos are the only two Real Madrid players to make their presence felt in the team. The former finished joint-top scorer alongside Messi and Neymar. AS reports that his strike against Liverpool at Anfield was also voted the best goal of the campaign. This can be seen below, via Mr. Marco:

It's worth noting no Bayern Munich player made it into the squad despite the German side reaching the semi-finals.
B/R UK's Andy Brassell recently discussed the chances of Bayern and other competitors ahead of next season's competition:
Shakhtar Donetsk's Luiz Adriano—who netted nine in just seven appearances, per WhoScored—may feel a little hard done by after not being selected.
Spanish dominance isn't unusual in the Champions League—three of the last four finalists have descended from La Liga—so this year's squad is unlikely to catch many off guard.
Barcelona have put themselves in a position to dominate the continent for the foreseeable future and will aim to become the first side to retain the crown in the Champions League era next season.
