Germany the Overwhelming Favourites

Germany are undoubtedly favourites not just for the match, but for the tournament itself.
As ESPN's Paul Carr notes, Silvia Neid's team have an excellent record:
The top-ranked side have won the World Cup twice since its inauguration in 1991 and eight of the 11 European Championships, including the last six in a row.
Thanks to the likes of Celia Sasic and Alexandra Popp leading the line magnificently and captain Nadine Angerer almost impenetrable in goal, Germany romped to qualification with 10 wins out of 10, scoring an incredible 62 goals and conceding just four.

Germany also boast five Frankfurt players among their ranks, who won the 2015 Champions League.
After suffering a shocking early exit in 2011 to eventual winners Japan, manager Neid and her charges will be determined to dominate the world stage once again. This goes doubly for Neid, who has announced she will step down from the role in 2016, making this her last World Cup with Germany.
Per DW.de, she said: "I took a long time to make this decision—I've been connected to the national team for 34 years. I don't want to retire, I want to try something new."

Ivory Coast will take to heart that World Player of the Year Nadine Kessler will be absent for the Germans through injury, but damage limitation will be the order of the day for the African side.
Les Elephants are appearing in their first World Cup after finishing third in the 2014 African Women's Championship.
According to FOX Sports, Ivory Coast's main threat will come from strikers Estelle Nahi and Tina Ines, who ply their trade in Russia and Serbia respectively. The pair add width to the side, and their movement in switching flanks regularly could cause Germany some problems.
Germany are a far stronger and more ruthless prospect than any Ivory Coast have faced, however, and their lack of experience on the international stage could see them struggle with the pressure of facing such illustrious opposition.
Expect Germany to kick off their campaign with a comfortable and professional victory on Sunday.
