Benzema's Agent Denies Meeting with Manchester United
Sunday, June 7
"I haven't met with any club in London. Not with United and not with anyone else. We haven't held talks with anyone other than Real Madrid," said Karim Djaziri, Benzema's agent, per Marca's Pablo Polo. "What is Karim going to do in Manchester? He's happy in Madrid. He doesn't want to leave. Benzema would only leave if Real Madrid told him he was surplus to requirements, because he isn't going to leave of his own accord."
Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News reported June 4 that Djaziri met with United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward at a London hotel on June 3.
Despite rumours swirling regarding Benzema's future with Los Blancos, Atletico Madrid star and fellow Frenchman Antoine Griezmann has no doubt that the 27-year-old attacker will stay in Spain, per Marca (h/t Ben Jefferson of the Express).
"He's a veteran at Real Madrid, he's doing very well and I can't see him leaving," Griezmann said. "He's had some leg problems this year, but he's very strong mentally. He'll be back to his best next season."
Since Benzema is forced to share the spotlight with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez, he may ultimately back a move to the English Premier League. However, at the moment, it appears unlikely based on his agent's comments.
