Key Matches

Germany vs. Norway

In a replay of the 2013 European Championship final, Germany will take on Norway in Group B.

Nadine Angerer is an imposing figure in Germany's goal, conceding just four goals in 10 qualifying matches.

Germany are the No. 1-ranked team in the world, and it's difficult to look past them contesting for the trophy in Canada.

Norway will likely be the Germans' first true test of the competition, so it's set to be a fascinating contest and will give a strong indication of how far both teams can expect to go in the knockout stages, should they both qualify.

Die Nationalelf are an outstanding tournament team, as ESPN's Paul Carr notes:

As well as the two World Cups, Germany have also tasted success in six consecutive European Championships.

Silvia Neid's team boast a wealth of international experience, and despite missing Ballon d'Or Winner Nadine Kessler due to injury are still a major force to be reckoned with.

However, Norway gave a good account of themselves in the 2013 final, losing 1-0 in a narrow game.

As FourFourTwo's Jonny Blain noted, Norway play with an effective, direct style and up front boast the talents of Ada Hegerberg, fresh from a 26-league-goal season with Lyon.

Germany will likely come out on top here but expect the Grasshoppers to make things difficult for their illustrious counterparts.

Prediction: Germany 3-2 Norway

USA vs. Sweden

The top two contenders in a classic "Group of Death" will face off in a crunch clash that could have major implications for qualification for the knockout stages.

Abby Wambach is a powerful presence for the U.S.

The U.S., who were beaten finalists in 2011, have lost just five times since finishing runners-up four years ago, and won more than 60 matches in that time.

However, USA face strong competition in a group that features three teams in FIFA's top 10.

Coach Jill Ellis believes it will be a "very demanding group:"

Fifth-ranked Sweden will be the most demanding of all.

Led by Pia Sundhage, who took USA to the World Cup final last time around, Sweden are an excellent side and a big threat in Group D.

Thanks to the likes of 2014 Ballon d'Or-shortlisted Lotta Schelin and Nilla Fischer, Sweden have a squad capable of challenging for the trophy and will likely prove equal to the U.S. here.

Prediction: USA 2-2 Sweden

England vs. France

The opening game of Group F is sure to be its most intriguing, as longtime rivals England and France look to get their tournaments off to a winning start.

The tournament will be the first for England's head coach Mark Sampson. As presenter and commentator Jacqui Oatley notes, England's players have taken on board the new manager's style:

According to the Guardian's Nick Ames, both teams strolled through qualifying with consummate ease, scoring over 100 goals and conceding an incredible four between them.

France have had the better of their recent meetings, beating England on penalties in the 2011 quarter-finals and dispatching them with ease in Euro 2013.

England will likely make the quarter-finals as they so often do, but it will require a herculean effort to overcome the in-form and exciting French side.

After exiting early in 2013 thanks to that 3-0 defeat to France, the Three Lionesses will likely begin the match with some trepidation. France, led by their rock-solid captain Wendie Renard, will punish any nerves and can start their campaign brightly with a win here.

Prediction: England 0-2 France
