Facebook Data Shows LeBron James Is More Talked About Than MVP Stephen Curry

Kyle NewportJun 2, 2015

Despite putting up ridiculous highlights on a nightly basis on his way to winning the 2014-15 NBA MVP award, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry still doesn't get talked about as much as the Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James.

Facebook gathered data from the beginning of the 2015 NBA playoffs up until recently to figure out who has created more buzz, Curry or James. Both stars have been all over social media as they have led their respective teams to the NBA Finals.

Here are the county-by-county results (click here for high-res map):

Unfortunately, we do not know if postgame podium star Riley Curry has created more buzz than either her father or James.

It's probably not a huge surprise that James still dominates conversations. Pretty much anything he does—on or off the court—grabs headlines. However, there are some interesting notes that came from the data.

James "owned" at least one county in every state and swept a total of 19 states. The Cavaliers superstar lost just 14 counties east of the Mississippi River. In the state Curry calls home (North Carolina), he was the most talked-about player in just two counties.

Curry may have been the NBA's top player this season, but the data shows this is still James' league.
