B/R 5th Down: UAB Fans React to Reinstatement, Recruit Pranks Auburn Coaches
Editor's Note: The Fifth Down captures the top social college football stories of the week. Because the long, grueling offseason is underway, we'll focus on things that make us laugh, think or maybe cry, but mostly laugh.
1. Check Out These UAB Fans' Reactions to Having Football Reinstated
On Monday, UAB president Ray Watts officially reinstated football after terminating the program six months before. There are still a lot of questions that need answering—when will football officially commence again, for starters—but it's good to see that the sport is coming back.
Check out the reaction from fans below. Now, the question is: Can they keep it up in the next year or two when the team comes back?
Those questions will hopefully be answered in earnest, but for now, let UAB be euphoric about the news.
2. Recruit Pranks Auburn's Coaching Staff
Donta Evans, a 3-star linebacker prospect, visited Auburn over the weekend during the program's annual spring recruiting event. These are the kinds of events where coaches and players can really get to know one another. If there's anything we learned about Evans, it's that he has a practical joker side to him, as Wesley Sinor of AL.com explained:
"He pranked head coach Gus Malzahn, defensive coordinator Will Muschamp and linebackers coach Lance Thompson into taking pictures that were actually videos.
"We all had a lot of fun," Evans told Rivas. "But I had to get them. I love those guys and we were having so much fun. It was just a great visit, an amazing day."
"
The whole point of the joke is to create a super-awkward moment where people are smiling for an uncomfortably long time. Mission accomplished.
3. Texas A&M Has Some New Cleats Thanks To Snoop Dogg
What's college football anymore without a little fashion that has absolutely nothing to do with a program's history? In the latest installment of "just because," Texas A&M has unveiled new cleats courtesy of Adidas and "Coach Snoop Dogg":
"Suited 'N' Booted thanks to Coach @SnoopDogg & @adidasFballUS! Much love to our #3StripeLife fam for the exclusives. pic.twitter.com/G8hdMRGF2q
— AggieFBLife (@aggiefblife) May 29, 2015"
This isn't the first time Snoop Dogg has outfitted A&M with gear. Back in 2014, Adidas and Snoop—I think that was when he was known as Snoop Lion—gave the Aggies these feline-inspired cleats:
"Ain't nuthin' but a #G thang, baby! .@adidasFballUS X @SnoopDogg #SnoopCleat #AggieFBLife pic.twitter.com/0xHoLBm2AU

4. Mick Jagger Leads Crowd in "O-H-I-O!" Chant
The Rolling Stones played in Ohio Stadium on Saturday night. Lead singer Mick Jagger certainly knew how to appeal to his audience, leading them in an "O-H-I-O!" chant:
The Stones also played "Hang On Sloopy," Ohio's official rock song:
Paint it black? More like paint it scarlet and gray.
(Sorry, that was bad.)
5. Let's Watch Another Extreme Catch, Shall We?
Football players posting videos of themselves making insane catches was all the rage in last week's Fifth Down. So guess what—we have more!
Check out this quick video of 2016 cornerback recruit Nigel Knott doing a backflip off a wall and catching a football:
Knott, a 4-star prospect from Madison, Mississippi, has 25 offers and is strongly considering Oregon. There probably—probably—won't be an instance in a game when he can actually do a backflip and intercept a pass, but we're a hopeful bunch.
6. Cardale Jones: Not a Softball Player
We're huge fans of Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones here at Fifth Down. In fact, you could say that we're pretty close friends—if "pretty close friends" never met each other and one party didn't even know the other existed, that is.
Still, close friends aren't just there for support. They're meant to bust your butt when you screw up and make sure that it finds its way onto the Internet.
That's what we have here with Jones completely whiffing on a softball while trying to hit a home run:
"That's getting [Instagramed]" might be the funniest part of the whole thing.
7. Baker Mayfield Got Moves, Y'all
It's made its way through the Internet rounds (WORLDSTARRR), but if you haven't seen Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield doing the whip, well, you're missing out.
And by "missing out," we mean missing out on note-taking. Seriously, do it. Look at him go:

Mayfield, a Texas Tech transfer, is competing to be the starting quarterback for the Sooners this year. I'd almost say give him the job on this alone. How else is he going to do a touchdown dance like this if he's standing on the sidelines?
Also, it should be noted that Tech and Oklahoma play each other on Oct. 24. Possible overtime rules? Dance-off between Mayfield and Red Raiders head coach Kliff Kingsbury:
8. Presenting College Football's Newest Rivalry Trophy
Let's go back to November of last year when UConn head coach Bob Diaco said he wanted a future trophy game with Central Florida. It was kind of an odd statement, mainly considering the Huskies and Knights had met all of two times in history—and those two games came in 2013 and '14. (UCF won the first game 62-17 and UConn won the second meeting 37-29, giving the Huskies their first win over an FBS team that season.)
Well, Diaco got his wish anyway. Here we are, presenting the "Civil Conflict Trophy" between the two sides:
The whole thing is on the bizarre side, but nothing quite tops the fact that UCF didn't even know about the trophy's creation:
It sounds like this was all Diaco/UConn's doing. So, you know, tune in Saturday, Oct. 10, when UCF and UConn battle for the Civil Conflict Trophy for the first time.
9. Baylor's New Threads
New uniforms are always a hit on Fifth Down. You know how it works by now: Look good, feel good, play well. Baylor has taken that to heart. Last week, head coach Art Briles revealed some new threads for his team on his Twitter account.
You can check out the Bears' new unis below, which feature some traditional green and gold accents—and that's about it. Everything else is full "alternate color that has no affiliation with the school":

It's a sharp look, but the helmet is especially sweet.
10. Finally, Roll Bride!
If you haven't seen it already, the daughter of Alabama head coach Nick Saban, Kristen, got married over the weekend to her childhood sweetheart, Adam Setas. The reception was at Alabama's Bryant-Denny Stadium and featured the bride and groom driving off in a Rolls Royce to a fireworks show.
And, hey, if you're going to do a wedding, do it right. Do something like, oh, I don't know, drive a Rolls Royce through a fireworks show:
Some people prefer modest ceremonies, and that's fine, but remember one thing about a wedding: It's your day. Not anyone else's. It's probably the one time in all our lives when you can do whatever you want and no one can say otherwise.
Want a wedding during a fall Saturday? Have it during a fall Saturday. If anyone here in the college football community makes a stink about it because it means they'll miss the Iron Bowl, forget them. They don't care about you enough anyway.
So enjoy the father-daughter dance:
Wear a Crimson Tide elephant mascot head, Lee Corso style:
Sing a long with a little Lynyrd Skynyrd (it wouldn't be a T-Town reception without them):
And remember two things: College football doesn't love you back, and it will still be there when you're done taking care of life things.
