Chris Gatling, Former NBA All-Star, Arrested: Latest Details, Comments and More

Former NBA player and All-Star Chris Gatling, 47, was arrested in Arizona on Thursday in connection to a credit card and identity theft scam. He was officially arrested for fraud, aggravated identity theft and forgery.

TMZ.com noted that police said Gatling was the "kingpin" in the scam.

TMZ provided details from one of the victims:

One of Gatling's alleged victims is a woman he met on a dating website who owned a fitness studio—who he allegedly screwed out of $90,000.

Long story short...cops say Gatling set up Internet businesses to gather credit card information from people.

Once he got the numbers, he would take them to the fitness studio...convinced the lady to run the cards for various dollar amounts (she believed they were legit)...and asked her to front him 90 percent of the payment in cash.

Perhaps best known for getting posterized by Shawn Kemp, the Golden State Warriors selected Gatling in the first round of the 1991 NBA draft (16th overall).

He went on to play for the Heat, Mavericks, Nets, Bucks, Nuggets, Magic and Cavaliers in his 11-year career as a productive journeyman.

In all, Gatling averaged 10.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. He peaked during the 1996-97 season when he made the All-Star team and averaged 19.1 points per game in 44 contests for the Mavericks.
