Manchester United vs. San Jose Earthquakes: Date, Venue and More

Manchester United always head overseas to boost their revenue during the preseason. In the United States, they've found a steady source of revenue, one they don't plan on cutting off anytime soon. According to James Robson of the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils will have the San Jose Earthquakes on their docket this summer.    

The friendly is scheduled for July 21 at the University of California's Memorial Stadium. It will be part of the International Champions Cup, a round-robin tournament that will also take place in China and Australia.

Last year's edition was notable for a friendly between Real Madrid and Manchester United which drew 109,318 fans to Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, a United States soccer-attendance record.

"Manchester United teams have been visiting San Francisco since the 1960s, so we are delighted to be coming back for the fourth time this summer," said Richard Arnold, Manchester United's group managing director, in a press release. "San Jose Earthquakes and Manchester United share a special connection with the great George Best playing for both sides during his illustrious career."

United currently have four different friendlies—including fixtures with Club America, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain—planned for their U.S. tour, which will only help increase their stamp on the country.

For the Earthquakes, the match will come right in the middle of their Major League Soccer season. San Jose plays the Los Angeles Galaxy on July 17 and then gets the Vancouver Whitecaps on July 26. Throwing a friendly in there will definitely make things a bit tricky for manager Dominic Kinnear.
