All-NBA Team 2014-15: Selections for First, Second & Third Teams, Reaction, More

Tim DanielsMay 21, 2015

Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, the NBA's Most Valuable Player for the 2014-15 season, and the Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James headline the All-NBA First Team, which the league revealed Thursday.

Bleacher Report's Howard Beck passed along the complete voting results for each of the three All-NBA teams, which didn't feature any major surprises:

Curry and James, who could face off in the NBA Finals shortly after their teams grabbed 1-0 leads in the conference finals, tied for the most voting points.

James Harden of the Houston Rockets, Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans and Marc Gasol of the Memphis Grizzlies joined them on the first team. Four of the five players in the top group play in the Western Conference.

Jeff Caplan of NBA.com notes the overall results showcase Western dominance:

ESPN Stats & Info highlighted another all-time mark James is chasing:

Of the 15 players to receive All-NBA honors, 13 received first-team votes.

San Antonio Spurs standout Kawhi Leonard was one of the few notable absences. Zach Harper of CBS Sports says the positional situation played a role in his possible snub:

Other players who had a strong case include John Wall (Washington Wizards), Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers), Jimmy Butler (Chicago Bulls) and Paul Millsap (Atlanta Hawks).

As for those who did receive the honor, Tim Duncan made the third team and very nearly became the oldest All-NBA selection in the process, per Jordan Howenstine of the Spurs' PR staff:

Duncan also tied Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Kobe Bryant for the most selections with 15, according to the Spurs' official Twitter page.

A debate can be had about some of those left off the lists and how the position designations make it tougher for certain players. That said, the voters did a solid job overall of picking the trio of teams this year.

It's certainly no surprise Curry and James led the way. A Finals matchup between their teams would be highly intriguing, to say the least.
