Real Madrid, Barcelona Headline Forbes List of 2015's Most Valuable Soccer Teams

Mike ChiariMay 6, 2015

The average value of the world's top soccer teams continues to climb, but Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona still rule the roost in Forbes' latest valuation list.

According to Mike Ozanian of Forbes.com, the dominant La Liga clubs pace the field with values of over $3 billion each. Here is a rundown of the top 10, with the full top-20 listing available at Forbes.com:

1Real MadridLa Liga$3.26 billion
2BarcelonaLa Liga$3.16 billion

Per Ozanian, the top 20 clubs are 11 percent more valuable this year than last. Also, this marks the third consecutive year in which Los Blancos have been the most valuable team.

Manchester United are head and shoulders above every other English club at $3.1 billion, while Bayern Munich are the only German team to crack the top 10. Also, a pair of Italian squads in Juventus and AC Milan made the list.

It should come as no surprise that most of the world's most successful clubs are among the most valuable as well.

On-field success in soccer, perhaps more so than any other sport, is driven by money due to the fact that only a select group of teams can afford the world's very best players.

All of those clubs made Forbes' list, and it is difficult to imagine most of them falling by the wayside anytime soon.
