Mark Jackson Jokes About Losing Warriors Coaching Job During Playoff Game

Kyle NewportMay 3, 2015

Ex-Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson was on the call for Game 1 of his former team's Western Conference semifinals matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday. During the broadcast, Jackson randomly cracked a joke at his own expense.

The San Antonio Spurs fell to the Los Angeles Clippers on the road in Game 7 of their opening-round series on Saturday night, which is exactly what happened to Jackson's Warriors last postseason.

That first-round exit cost Jackson his job, despite his team posting a 51-31 regular-season record.

Well, as Mike Breen was commending the Spurs for their graciousness in defeat, Jackson dropped an awesome one-liner about what happens to a coach when he loses a Game 7 at Staples Center to the Clippers, via CSNBayArea.com's Drew Shiller:

Of course, Gregg Popovich—a five-time champion—is not in any danger of losing his job. But Jackson did want to at least remind the Spurs coach what happened to the last coach who lost in that scenario.
