Chelsea vs. Crystal Palace: Jose Mourinho and Alan Pardew Post-Match Reaction

Rob BlanchetteMay 3, 2015

Chelsea sealed their inevitable final stride toward the Premier League title when they beat Crystal Palace 1-0 to win the championship on Sunday.

Jose Mourinho was calm in his assessments of his team's huge triumph while speaking to Sky Sports immediately after the match. The Special One also confirmed he intends the title to not be the last during his reign in west London:

Mourinho also spoke about his and the club's critics following the triumph, via Miguel Delaney of ESPN:

Chelsea captain John Terry was also in a jubilant mood when speaking to Sky Sports, with the defender rolling back the years and being the cornerstone of yet another Mourinho triumph, per Mark Critchley of The Independent:

"This is unbelievable, we worked so hard and we got over the line; we're champions. We worked so hard, we got over the line."

Blues match-winner Eden Hazard also gave praise to his manager at the final whistle, explaining why he has performed so well throughout the campaign:

The Blues have posted an impressive set of statistics this term, beaten just twice in the EPL, per Squawka.com.

They were last defeated on New Year's Day after falling 5-3 to Harry Kane and Tottenham Hotspur, but they have since remained undefeated.

Sam Wallace of The Independent recognised Mourinho's achievement, as he compares the title wins to many of England's managerial greats:

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew also congratulated their capital-city neighbours on winning the title and made no excuses as to why Chelsea have collected the championship, as quoted by ESPN's Miguel Delaney:

Chelsea have easily been the best side in England this season, with all of their main rivals suffering from spells of poor form and injuries. Mourinho built on the small successes of last year with the signings of Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas and turned the Blues back into the formidable machine of years gone by.

However, the Portuguese coach will have to continue to improve his squad if he wants to see the title return to Stamford Bridge next year, as both Manchester clubs and Arsenal will invest heavily in order to quickly bridge the gap between themselves and the newly crowned champions.
