Chelsea Transfer News: World-Class Targets Named in Latest Blues Rumours
Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Barcelona star Pedro during the summer transfer window, according to the latest reports from Marca's Luis F. Rojo.
The veteran winger is expected to be the subject of a number of bids due to his status as a bench player behind the trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar. According to Rojo, Jose Mourinho will be among his many suitors:
"Various clubs around Europe know that the player could be on the market, and one that has its eyes closely trained on the forward is Mourinho's Chelsea. The Portuguese manager is pondering whether to sign him, since he is exactly the kind of player he'd like to bring in to reinforce his front line.
Mou values the fact that he's an attack-minded player that can do well on either wing, but also knows his way to goal. When his confidence is high, Pedro has consistently banged the goals in despite spending most of his time out on the wing. Another aspect that Mourinho really appreciates is the attitude he plays with, how well he presses the opposition when they try to play their way out of defence. In short, Pedro ticks all the right boxes and Mou knows it.

The 27-year-old has been a solid contributor for the Blaugrana for many years but since the arrival of Suarez and the emergence of young star Munir El Haddadi, it has become clear he's no longer one of the club's most pivotal players.
His goal tally in 2015 certainly reflects that standing, as shared by Barcastuff:
"Most goals for Barcelona in the year 2015: Messi 23 - Suarez 16 - Neymar 16 - Pedro 3 - Pique 3 - Mathieu 3 - Rakitic 2 [via @barcastat]
— barcastuff (@barcastuff) April 25, 2015"
The Spain international has just one year left on his current contract, via the Daily Mirror's John Cross, and while Barcelona's transfer embargo will make it difficult to sign any of their players during the summer, Pedro should represent interested clubs with quite the bargain.
He's a versatile, productive forward who can be close to unstoppable when he's in form, and having played in Barcelona's high-press system for years, he also doesn't shy away from his defensive duties.
Mourinho values hard-working players like that, and for a minor investment, it makes sense to bring Pedro to west London. Whether the transfer makes sense from the player's perspective is a different matter.
Pedro's main gripe with Barcelona is playing time, as reported by weloba (via Barcastuff):
"Pedro won't listen to offers from other teams until after talks with Barcelona. Wants playing time next season ahead of Euro 2016. [weloba]
— barcastuff (@barcastuff) March 31, 2015"
With Euro 2016 fast approaching, the winger needs to shine throughout the 2015-16 season in order to salvage his starting position in Spain's squad. And with the likes of Eden Hazard, Willian and new signing Juan Cuadrado expected to play a big role out wide for the Blues next season, Pedro could once again find himself on the bench.
He certainly has the quality to win the starting job from Willian or Cuadrado, but a transfer to a club in dire need of wide help would be the safer bet.
Paulo Dybala Talks Summer Move

It seems almost certain Palermo star Paulo Dybala will leave his current club during the summer, as his latest comments on the ongoing transfer saga indicate. As reported by the Daily Express' Bruce Archer, he told Sky:
"I’d love to have an experience in another country.
But I’d also like to stay in Italy. For now I’m only thinking about Palermo and getting as many points as possible.
I have a lot of goals I want to achieve in the future. I have my whole career ahead of me and I have to make the right choice.
"
Archer links the Argentinian youngster with Premier League clubs Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool, although the Gunners are most frequently mentioned as a potential transfer destination.
Italian champion Juventus remain the favourites, however. The 21-year-old has already indicated he would prefer to stay and develop in Serie A for now, via BT Sport's James Horncastle:
The Bianconeri have also been talking to his current club regarding a potential transfer, per beIN Sports' Tancredi Palmeri:
Dybala is one of the most exciting young attackers in Europe, and while the Blues don't have a need for another versatile forward, he's too talented not to sign if the opportunity arises. He could be stashed with another club for two seasons to make sure he keeps on developing, or slowly worked into the squad in a free role behind striker Diego Costa.
The problem with Dybala is that he doesn't really fit Chelsea's system right now. As explained by Bleacher Report's Jonathan Johnson, he has a unique playing style most teams would have to build their squad around, and not work him into an existing formation:
Dybala will be expensive, and the perfect target for a young team building its way toward success. Chelsea are already one of the top teams in all of football, and they should be entering the summer window looking for established contributors who can help the Blues win next year's Champions League.
The Palermo ace doesn't fit that description, although he'll cost at least as much as a veteran player ready to contribute immediately. Juventus need a replacement for Carlos Tevez―let the Bianconeri work with Dybala for a few years and see how he develops.
