Barclays Premier League Table: Updated 2015 EPL Outlook After Week 33 Results

Chelsea moved one step closer to capturing the 2014-15 Barclays Premier League championship with a victory over Manchester United on Saturday. The Blues now lead second-place Arsenal by 10 points with just six matches left to play.

The battle between two of the top three clubs in the table highlighted Matchday 33. The other sides in the title chase have been waiting for Chelsea to leave the door open. Jose Mourinho's group simply hasn't allowed that to happen, remaining steady down the stretch.

Let's check out how the Premier League standings look following Saturday's action. The tables will be updated following the conclusion of Week 33 on Sunday. The information is followed by a review of some of the key moments.

For the second time this season Everton had a squabble about a penalty miss.

Back in January, Kevin Mirallas stepped to the spot and missed with Leighton Baines looking on. This time it was Ross Barkley who tried his luck and failed to convert. Once again, the veteran left-back, who's battle tested in those situations, was on the pitch but didn't get the ball.

The miss didn't cost the Toffees any points in this instance as a Mirallas tally was enough to edge Burnley. Afterward, manager Roberto Martinez tried to downplay any talk of a controversy. The club noted he said Baines gladly let the young midfielder take the penalty:

Either way, it's the type of decision that should likely be made beforehand by a manager rather than letting players choose in the heat of the moment. The good news for Everton is that they have now gone five straight league matches without a loss.

Leicester are showcasing their best form of the campaign at a crucial time. It was a struggle up until the past few weeks but now the club has rattled off three straight victories. The run has allowed the Foxes to move within one point of getting out of the relegation zone.

That's a major turn in fortunes after it seemed like they might be stuck at the bottom. Leonardo Ulloa scored within the first quarter hour and they never looked back. That early goal is always a perfect confidence boost for a club on a hot streak.

Guto Llewelyn of the Carmarthen Journal gave credit to the Leicester supporters, who provided the club with a much-needed home advantage:

The key moment for West Brom in their victory over Crystal Palace came in the second minute. The immediate goal rattled the Eagles and they never seemed to fully recover. The Baggies proceeded to score the 2-0 win.

Sky Sports Fantasy Football noted the critical quick marker:

West Brom now have some breathing room ahead of the relegation zone to the tune of eight points.

Southampton were trying to improve their chances of landing a European berth but fell short against Stoke. The Potters fell behind 1-0 but scored twice after the halftime break to stun the Saints and delight the home fans.

The last match on Saturday seen Chelsea showcase their championship mettle once again. The Blues received a goal from Eden Hazard in the 38th minute. From there, they did a tremendous job of keeping United out of dangerous scoring areas to preserve the lead.

Paul Carr of ESPN notes the title race isn't over but it's getting awfully close:

It would take a collapse of monumental proportions for a club other than Chelsea to raise the trophy.

That said, both matches on Sunday still have other implications. Manchester City must find a way to bring an end to their recent cold spell against West Ham. Their lead in the race for a Champions League spot is down to just four points over Liverpool.

That's followed by a clash between Tottenham and Newcastle. Spurs still have a chance to secure a European spot with a strong finish to the campaign. Going on the road to face a Toon group wanting to make sure they don't fall into a relegation battle won't be easy, though.
