Seattle Mariners vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Preview, Matchup Odds

OddsShark.comApr 15, 2015

Two teams that are among the favorites on the odds to win the 2015 World Series will square off at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday night in the final matchup of a three-game interleague series between the visiting Seattle Mariners and host Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Mariners (3-5) are off to a somewhat disappointing start, as they are looking to avoid a three-game sweep in Los Angeles, yet are still 13-2 to win the American League pennant and 14-1 to win the World Series.

The Dodgers (5-3) are the 9-2 second choice to win the National League pennant and 17-2 to win the World Series heading into Wednesday's betting matchup with the Mariners.

Seattle nearly snapped a three-game series losing streak Tuesday against Los Angeles but fell victim to a walk-off single by Dodgers second baseman Howie Kendrick with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning for a 6-5 loss.

The Mariners had won nine of the previous 12 meetings with Los Angeles, according to the Odds Shark MLB Database, before extending their series skid to four, getting off to a great start with back-to-back home runs from second baseman Robinson Cano and right fielder Nelson Cruz in the first inning that accounted for three of their runs.

The first two games have each seen the total top the closing number to extend the over streak on the baseball betting lines in the series overall to four in a row after the under went 4-1 in the previous five.

Seattle’s 22-year-old righty Taijuan Walker (0-1, 24.30 ERA) hopes to bounce back from a rough first outing at the Oakland Athletics last Friday. He surrendered nine runs and nine hits with two walks and three strikeouts in just 3.1 innings of an ugly 12-0 loss.

Walker owned a 3-3 career record coming into this season but looked awesome in spring training, posting a 4-0 record with an 0.67 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 27 innings.

The Dodgers will counter with 27-year-old lefty Brett Anderson (0-0, 4.50 ERA), who walked away with a no-decision in his first start of 2015 after allowing three runs and five hits to the Arizona Diamondbacks in six innings of an eventual 4-3 road loss.

Anderson walked one and struck out four for Los Angeles, and he was a much better pitcher under the lights last year with the Colorado Rockies, going 1-1 in five starts with a 1.84 ERA.
