Premier League Table: Latest 2015 EPL Standings and Predictions for Matchday 32

Tom SunderlandApr 6, 2015

A shock defeat at Selhurst Park on Monday evening has left Manchester City stranded in fourth place heading into Week 32 of the Premier League campaign, when they face a climactic clash against rivals Manchester United.

The loss to Crystal Palace serves as terrible preparation for a trip to Old Trafford next Sunday, but Manuel Pellegrini's defending champions will be hopeful of turning their fortunes around nonetheless.

Meanwhile, league leaders Chelsea make their way to Queens Park Rangers on the same day, striving to give a better account of their ability than was evident in the closely fought 2-1 win over Stoke City.

Arsenal Close the Gap on Chelsea

Arsenal and Chelsea are, as far as results go, two of the Premier League's in-form outfits right now. However, when delving past mere results, the Gunners may be quietly hopeful of cutting the Blues' Premier League lead at some point.

The pair don't meet directly until the end of April, but the Gunners face Burnley next Saturday in what could well be an easier task than Chelsea's trip to take on QPR at Loftus Road.

Chris Ramsey's side turned around their away troubles in a major way this past Saturday, thumping West Brom 4-1 at the Hawthorns in a performance that showed there's life in the west Londoners yet.

And what better way to prepare for a derby collision against Chelsea? Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger's men sit seven points adrift of Chelsea, but Alex Shaw of ESPN agrees that the title race is on:

Burnley will put up their usual fight, and after claiming a point off Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, one might even be tempted to suppose they're capable of claiming a result. But Arsenal are too strong right now.

The 4-1 hammering of Liverpool this Saturday showed what a healthy Gunners squad can accomplish, with Squawka suggesting the north London giants may even be benefiting from a less pass-orientated approach:

If there's one venue at which QPR are all the more likely to cause any side grief, it's Loftus Road, and the storyline of a west London rivalry gives Ramsey's men all the more motivation to build on their recent win.

Manchester United Show Citizens Who Rules the Roost

A 2-1 loss at Palace's hands has left Manchester City in a spin, one point and one place below close rivals Manchester United as derby day beckons at Old Trafford.

Sunday will see the two teams pulled apart as the victor looks to unearth some breathing space in the hunt for a top-four finish, with Pellegrini's men now in a rather unfamiliar bit of bother.

Should Liverpool or Tottenham win this coming weekend in conjunction with a Red Devils triumph, it would see City fall to within sight of their top-four pursuers, currently seven points away.

Match of the Day's Gary Lineker points out how far Louis van Gaal's men have come since a mixed start to their season, having claimed a morale-boosting 3-1 win against Aston Villa on Saturday:

United haven't dropped a Premier League point at Old Trafford since the surprise defeat to Southampton in January, leaking just three goals in their five home fixtures since then.

Since assembling a more fit and familiar lineup in the new year, Van Gaal's side look a more assured machine and have the capacity to march past their bitter rivals with a rousing result Sunday.
