Hornets Sting Boro to Claim Automatic Edge
It may have been only temporary, but Watford will have basked in their glory all the same on Monday as a 2-0 victory over Middlesbrough fired them to the summit of the Championship for several hours.
The early kick-off saw Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo net some impressive goals to give the Hornets a tremendous boost in their search for Premier League football, with Betway confirming their rise:
"Watford beat Middlesbrough 2-0 to storm to the top of the table. Bournemouth and Norwich are hot on their heels. pic.twitter.com/nPqq0MNz5M

Slavisa Jokanovic's men may finish the day in third place, but the London outfit will assuredly see this as a case of getting one major obstacle out of their way and Boro's promotion hopes suffering as a result.
Three of Watford's five remaining fixtures this campaign come against teams currently residing in the bottom half of the Championship, giving the club substantial hope regarding their chances of going up.
Bournemouth Score 4 to Lead the Brigade in Style

It was of course Bournemouth who reinstated themselves as Championship leaders later on Monday afternoon, sealing a 4-2 win over Birmingham City to reclaim their perch.
Manager Eddie Howe has crafted a free-flowing and attractive brand at Goldsands Stadium in recent years, and Sky Sports News illustrates just how genuine the hype is around the club being able to realise their Premier League dream:
OptaJoe tells us just how the team have relied on the goals of Callum Wilson up front this term, netting his 20th on Monday as the Cherries brought their season goal tally up to 87 in league competition:
Although just a point distances the league leaders from their closest peers, one gets the feeling this Bournemouth side can most certainly go all the way and claim the title, although nothing is assured just yet.
Howe doesn't seem the type of manager to allow his players any premature celebrations, and as long as they keep playing their approach while staying grounded, this Championship crown would appear theirs for the taking.
Brentford Dream Fading Following Forest Draw
One outfit left disappointed with their Monday result will have been Brentford, who drew 2-2 at home to Nottingham Forest in a fixture that could have boosted their promotion bid tremendously.
It wasn't to be for the west Londoners, however, and it was only a 95th-minute equaliser from Jose Peleteiro that clinched a point for the hosting side.

Brentford still sit in sixth, but they are five points away from Middlesbrough in fourth and have a considerable disadvantage in the goal-difference department.
A trip to Pride Park this coming weekend could be a make-or-break encounter for the underdogs looking to claim their playoff place, with Ipswich Town and Wolverhampton Wanderers among those looking to take advantage of any stumble.
