Shavar Manuel to Florida: Gators Land 4-Star DT Prospect
One of the nation's best defensive tackles is heading to Gainesville. IMG Academy standout Shavar Manuel announced his intention to attend Florida in a Twitter message posted Tuesday:

Analysts have pegged Manuel as one of the 2016 class' best players for years. He is currently the No. 42 overall player and the seventh-ranked defensive tackle, according to 247Sports' composite rankings.
For most of the process, Florida State has seemed like a runaway favorite. The Seminoles garnered nearly every selection on 247Sports' Crystal Ball predictions, with only LSU and Alabama also getting votes. However, Florida made a concerted push and was the 49 percent favorite by his decision date.
Manuel also made no bones about his admiration of the school, per Wayne McGahee of Scout.com: “The comfort. I like what was drawn on the board for me and how the 2016 defensive line class would be looking at Florida State.”
Listed at 6'4" and 290 pounds, Manuel should bring an instant impact to the table in Gainesville. He's a ferocious pass-rusher who uses his size and first-step quickness to bust into the backfield and bring down opposing quarterbacks. It's even possible someone with his athletic profile could become a pass-rushing outside linebacker, if the situation called for it.
As it stands, Florida is landing an immense talent. It's not a bad way to get things rolling for the 2016 class.
