Sunday Recap

There was high drama at Anfield on Sunday, as Manchester United beat fierce rivals Liverpool thanks to a fantastic performance from Juan Mata, while club legend Steven Gerrard spent just 48 seconds on the pitch for the Reds before seeing the red card.
Mata scored both goals for United, including a stunning flying volley, to cancel out Daniel Sturridge's late goal for Liverpool. Wayne Rooney missed a penalty deep in the second half.
The Sunday Times' Duncan Castles thought Mata was making a huge statement:
The biggest talking point of the match will undoubtedly be Gerrard's red, however. The star midfielder was introduced at half-time and spent exactly 48 seconds on the pitch before putting his studs into the foot of Ander Herrera.
Naturally, social media went berserk:
As shared by Squawka, the veteran took full responsibility for his actions instead of taking his frustrations out on the official:
It's unfortunate most fans will only talk about Gerrard's dismissal, because in truth, United made a big statement at Anfield. Liverpool hadn't lost a Premier League match in ages, but the Red Devils played a fearless, disciplined game and deservedly walked out with the three points.
The win sees them open up a five-point gap over the Reds in the race for the final Champions League ticket, and Louis van Gaal's men have to be considered favourites to keep hold of their spot in the standings.

League-leaders Chelsea needed a late goal from Loic Remy to beat Hull City 3-2 after the hosts had turned around a two-goal deficit in two wacky minutes.
Eden Hazard had opened the score with a fantastic effort from range, and Diego Costa had doubled the Blues' advantage, but Ahmed Elmohamady and Abel Hernandez tied things up again before half-time. The Daily Mirror's John Cross couldn't believe it:
Neither could the Daily Tackle's Brooks Peck:
After last week's draw against Southampton, where the Blues couldn't find a way through a staunch defence late, Jose Mourinho's troops really needed to find a winner at Hull. The Tigers refused to budge until an excellent team move ended with Remy shooting on goal, and a blunder from Allan McGregor gifted the visitors the win.
Aaron Lennon scored a late winner for Everton, as the Toffees bounced back from their Europa League defeat by beating Queens Park Rangers 2-1.
Saturday Recap

Olivier Giroud scored twice to guide Arsenal past Newcastle United, which clawed back into the match through Moussa Sissoko and came close to securing a point several times in the late stages.
As shared by Squawka, their form has been nearly impeccable of late:
David Ospina was the star man late, making several key stops, but based on the full 90 minutes, the win was deserved for the visitors. And with Chelsea dropping points last week, the Gunners are suddenly within four points of the Premier League lead.
Sportingintelligence is ready to carefully discuss the club's title chances:
Manager Arsene Wenger is not, however, as he still believes the Blues are the clear favourites, as Goal notes:
Chelsea still have two matches in hand, beginning with Sunday's fixture against Hull City.
Manchester City needed a win in the worst way after last week's debacle at Burnley and their Champions League exit at the hands of Barcelona.
With the help of official Neil Swarbrick, they did just that.
Swarbrick brandished a red card after just 89 seconds, sending off Gareth McAuley for a foul that was actually committed by Craig Dawson. West Brom were furious at the decision and never looked themselves afterward.
Manchester Evening News' Stuart Brennan thought someone might have told the referee about his gaffe at half-time:
Wilfried Bony opened his City tally in the first half, and Fernando and David Silva completed the scoreline. But as MailOnline Sport notes, that is not what everyone will be talking about in the coming days:
Harry Kane bagged a hat-trick in Tottenham's 4-3 win over Leicester City, with the winning margin ultimately decided by an own goal from Jeffrey Schlupp. Former England international Gary Lineker thinks that perfectly sums up the kind of season the Foxes are having:
"Thrilling game at White Hart Lane. Story of the season for Leicester. Play well. Lose.
— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) March 21, 2015"
Tim Sherwood couldn't push Aston Villa's win streak to three matches, as the Villans fell 1-0 at home to Swansea City, while Southampton beat Burnley 2-0. Crystal Palace continued their fine run with a 2-1 win at Stoke, and Dick Advocaat's debut on the Sunderland bench ended with a 1-0 defeat against West Ham United.
Sunday's huge clash between Liverpool and Manchester United headlines Week 30, while league leaders Chelsea meet Hull and Queens Park Rangers host Everton.
