B/R Experts Predict Top Matches in World Football for Weekend of March 21-22

Alex LivieMar 19, 2015

We have some huge derby action across Europe this weekend.

Liverpool entertain Manchester United, Besiktas travel across Istanbul to face Fenerbahce and Barcelona play host to Real Madrid in the Clasico.

Titles and European places are at stake, so there's sure to be high drama.

They don't look easy games to predict, but our experts have had their say in the following slides.

Liverpool vs. Manchester United

1 of 6

Alex Dimond: Liverpool 2-1 Manchester United

First goalscorer: Raheem Sterling

United gave their best performance of the season against Tottenham Hotspur last time out, but Liverpool have the benefit of home advantage and should continue their solid recent run.

Alex Livie: Liverpool 2-0 Manchester United

First goalscorer: Daniel Sturridge

Manchester United are clinging to a place in the top four, but defeat at Anfield will set them back on their heels.

Karl Matchett: Liverpool 3-1 Manchester United

First goalscorer: Daniel Sturridge

Liverpool's big chance to break back into the top four. They'll take the game to United and blow them apart.

Mike Cummings: Liverpool 2-1 Manchester United

First goalscorer: Daniel Sturridge

Liverpool are in irresistible form at the moment. This could be the weekend they overtake United in the table for good.

Sam Tighe: Liverpool 2-1 Manchester United

First goalscorer: Raheem Sterling

United may have improved dramatically against Spurs, but they're no match for the Reds right now. Liverpool to make it six wins in a row in the league.

Will Tidey: Liverpool 1-1 Manchester United

First goalscorer: Juan Mata

United to nick an early goal here, with Liverpool battling back for a point.

Barcelona vs. Real Madrid

2 of 6

Alex Dimond: Barcelona 3-1 Real Madrid

First goalscorer: Lionel Messi

In an unpredictable, topsy-turvy season in Spain, Barcelona enter this vital game with the form and momentum behind them. That might be enough for them to secure victory, with Lionel Messi doubtless pulling the strings.

Alex Livie: Barcelona 1-1 Real Madrid

First goalscorer: Luis Suarez

A tough one to call as Barca are in form, but Real Madrid have an array of stars to call on. Safest option is to take the draw.

Karl Matchett: Barcelona 2-1 Real Madrid

First goalscorer: Lionel Messi

Real Madrid have to come out and try to take something positive from the game. FCB will dominate as always and just have the edge on firepower to win.

Mike Cummings: Barcelona 2-2 Real Madrid

First goalscorer: Karim Benzema

Barcelona are the form team at the moment, but as we all know, none of that matters in El Clasico. As ever, this should be an intense match between two bitter rivals, and I expect a hard-fought draw.

Sam Tighe: Barcelona 3-1 Real Madrid

First goalscorer: Neymar

Barca's current superiority over Real Madrid will be confirmed with a huge victory.

Will Tidey: Barcelona 3-1 Real Madrid

First goalscorer: Neymar

Barca are Europe's form club right now, and I expect them to beat Madrid at home in this one.

Feyenoord vs. PSV Eindhoven

3 of 6

Alex Dimond: Feyenoord 1-1 PSV Eindhoven

First goalscorer: Memphis Depay

PSV are cruising towards the Dutch title, but they might have to settle for a draw in this one.

Alex Livie: Feyenoord 1-2 PSV Eindhoven

First goalscorer: Memphis Depay

PSV have powered their way into a position of dominance in the Eredivisie and can assert their authority over Feyenoord.

Karl Matchett: Feyenoord 1-1 PSV Eindhoven

First goalscorer: Luuk de Jong

PSV have such a huge lead that they're not really under any pressure to come out all guns blazing. They'll have enough to avoid defeat.

Mike Cummings: Feyenoord 2-3 PSV Eindhoven

First goalscorer: Memphis Depay

The reverse fixture ended with PSV winning 4-3 last December. I expect the league leaders to win again, but it could be another wild one.

Sam Tighe: Feyenoord 1-2 PSV Eindhoven

First goalscorer: Memphis Depay

It'll be close, and it'll be hard-fought, but PSV will come away with a defining victory in their quest for the title.

Will Tidey: Feyenoord 1-1 PSV Eindhoven

First goalscorer: Luuk de Jong

Feyenoord are at home and in good form. They can hold PSV to a draw here.

Newcastle United vs. Arsenal

4 of 6

Alex Dimond: Newcastle United 0-3 Arsenal

First goalscorer: Santi Cazorla

Newcastle United look destined to stumble to the finish line this season, and Arsenal should have few problems picking up another three points in this one.

Alex Livie: Newcastle United 0-4 Arsenal

First goalscorer: Santi Cazorla

Newcastle look like a side in Benidorm mode, and they will be brushed aside by an Arsenal team with much to play for.

Karl Matchett: Newcastle United 1-2 Arsenal

First goalscorer: Olivier Giroud

It's hard to see where the points are coming from for Newcastle at the moment. Arsenal are on a good run and play the Magpies at a good time.

Mike Cummings: Newcastle United 1-2 Arsenal

First goalscorer: Olivier Giroud

This is a potentially tricky fixture for Arsenal, but with the Gunners in good form, I'm backing them to take the full three points.

Sam Tighe: Newcastle United 1-3 Arsenal

First goalscorer: Olivier Giroud

First-goal specialist Olivier Giroud to get Arsenal on their way to another win. Easy stuff.

Will Tidey: Newcastle United 1-3 Arsenal

First goalscorer: Olivier Giroud

Arsenal's run at second will gather pace with a win at St James' Park.

Fenerbahce vs. Besiktas

5 of 6

Alex Dimond: Fenerbahce 1-1 Besiktas

First goalscorer: Dirk Kuyt

Besiktas' title bid to date has been built on their outstanding away form, and they really need to get something out of this Istanbul derby to continue their push towards the championship.

Alex Livie: Fenerbahce 1-0 Besiktas

First goalscorer: Moussa Sow

This is sure to be tight, with Besiktas looking to retain their position at the top of the league. Home advantage can see Fener claim a huge three points.

Karl Matchett: Fenerbahce 2-0 Besiktas

First goalscorer: Dirk Kuyt

The big man for the big occasion. Dirk Kuyt hit the winner against Galatasaray recently and can end his time in Turkey on a huge note by doing the same here en route to the title.

Mike Cummings: Fenerbahce 1-1 Besiktas

First goalscorer: Jose Sosa

The race for the Turkish title is tight, and neither team will want to drop points here. Score draw.

Sam Tighe: Fenerbahce 0-1 Besiktas

First goalscorer: Olcay Sahan

Besiktas to extend their lead at the top with a brilliant victory over Fener. Demba Ba isn't the only threat; Olcay Sahan will pop up with the goal.

Will Tidey: Fenerbahce 1-2 Besiktas

First goalscorer: Demba Ba

Huge game in Turkey. Beskitas are going well, and they'll just edge it.
