Man Sentenced to 14 Years in Prison for Burglary of Paul George's Home
Paul George has some closure in the April 2014 burglary of his home, as on Wednesday, a man was sentenced for the crime.
Steve Jefferson of WTHR 13 has the report:
"Michael Lewis, 43, was sentenced to 14 years in prison and two years of work release.
"
Investigators don't believe Lewis deliberately targeted George's home in the private, gated neighborhood on Diamond Pointe Drive.
Someone went through George's house during a game on April 28, 2014, walking off with his $15,000 NBA All-Star ring, a $700 watch, a pair of Air Jordans and $20 in cash. Prosecutors successfully argued that Michael Lewis carried out the burglary.
Police said that releasing a surveillance video that showed Michael Lewis' face aided them in the investigation and eventual prosecution. Lewis was able to enter the house due to the house's alarm system being turned off at the time of the crime.
For George, having this matter resolved comes before another bit of potential good news, as many folks expect him to return to the Indiana Pacers in the coming weeks after suffering a broken leg while playing for Team USA in July.
Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated has more on that front:
George's return would be a huge boost for an Indiana team fighting for a playoff spot in the weak Eastern Conference, so both George and the team will be hoping he continues to progress in his recovery.
In the interim, George will surely be pleased the matter involving the burglary of his house has come to a close.
