B/R Experts Predict Top Matches in World Football for Weekend of March 14-16
There is an interesting programme in world football this weekend for our experts to consider.
In the Premier League, Manchester United play host to Tottenham Hotspur with both clubs vying for a Champions League spot.
League leaders Chelsea will be looking to cement their place at the summit when top-four hopefuls Southampton arrive at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
In Ligue 1, Marseille and Lyon clash in the south of France as both clubs chase Paris Saint-Germain's title.
Bayern Munich will be looking to maintain their hold on the Bundesliga when they make the trip to Werder Bremen.
Roma's slim hopes of catching Serie A leaders and reigning champions Juventus will be tested when Sampdoria visit the Italian capital.

Werder Bremen vs. Bayern Munich
1 of 6
Alex Livie: Werder Bremen 1-3 Bayern Munich
First goalscorer: Thomas Muller
There's a huge gulf between these two sides in the Bundesliga table, and that will be replicated here.
Karl Matchett: Werder Bremen 0-3 Bayern Munich
First goalscorer: Thomas Muller
The Bundesliga isn’t a challenge for Bayern, and even when they don’t play well, they win.
Sam Tighe: Werder Bremen 1-2 Bayern Munich
First goalscorer: Robert Lewandowski
Werder Bremen have improved tenfold in 2015, but Bayern predictably have too much.
Will Tidey: Werder Bremen 0-3 Bayern Munich
First goalscorer: Thomas Muller
Muller's in the goals, Bayern are in the wins (as usual). There is only one way this is going.
Mike Cummings: Werder Bremen 1-2 Bayern Munich
First goalscorer: Robert Lewandowski
Bayern have won five straight league matches and look to be back in form after that brief blip following the winter break. Three more points in store for Pep and Co.
Alex Dimond: Werder Bremen 1-2 Bayern Munich
First goalscorer: Thomas Muller
Bayern are on a high after their midweek Champions League exploits, and they should carry that into this game.
Manchester United vs. Tottenham Hotspur
2 of 6
Alex Livie: Manchester United 1-2 Tottenham
First goalscorer: Emmanuel Adebayor
Tottenham have won on their last two visits to Old Trafford, and they can complete a hat-trick here.
Karl Matchett: Manchester United 2-1 Tottenham
First goalscorer: Radamel Falcao
A battling, counter-attacking performance from the home side somehow yields three points.
Sam Tighe: Manchester United 1-1 Tottenham
First goalscorer: Wayne Rooney
Neither team does enough to win a cagey affair.
Will Tidey: Manchester United 2-2 Tottenham
First goalscorer: Harry Kane
Top-four thriller in the making here. I expect Spurs to be the better side but United's attacking talent to shine and deliver a couple of goals for the draw.
Mike Cummings: Manchester United 2-2 Tottenham
First goalscorer: Harry Kane
Both teams recently crashed out of a cup, and both now have to turn their attention to finishing in the top four. As such, I expect a tightly contested match—and Harry Kane to keep up his good scoring form.
Alex Dimond: Manchester United 1-1 Tottenham
First goalscorer: Wayne Rooney
Tottenham have the ability to win here, as they have done a few times in recent seasons, but United's squad is fresher and should grind out a result.
Chelsea vs. Southampton
3 of 6
Alex Livie: Chelsea 2-0 Southampton
First goalscorer: Eden Hazard
Chelsea will continue their march toward the title and bounce back from their Champions League disappointment with three points against Saints.
Karl Matchett: Chelsea 2-0 Southampton
First goalscorer: Diego Costa
Classic Chelsea: start well, attack, score, sit back, soak up pressure and win with the killer second.
Sam Tighe: Chelsea 2-1 Southampton
First goalscorer: Eden Hazard
A tight match between two good sides, but Chelsea edge it in typical Chelsea fashion.
Will Tidey: Chelsea 1-0 Southampton
First goalscorer: Oscar
Chelsea will be tired after midweek Champions League exertions, but I still expect them to get this done at the Bridge.
Mike Cummings: Chelsea 2-0 Southampton
First goalscorer: Diego Costa
Southampton haven't given up many goals this season, but Chelsea will find a way to break them down and claim three more points.
Alex Dimond: Chelsea 1-0 Southampton
First goalscorer: John Terry
Chelsea will be suffering a bit after their Champions League exit to PSG, but Southampton are not in prolific goalscoring form at the moment, and that might ultimately cost them.
Marseille vs. Lyon
4 of 6
Alex Livie: Marseille 1-0 Lyon
First goalscorer: Andre-Pierre Gignac
A tense affair at the Velodrome, with Marseille toppling the leaders.
Karl Matchett: Marseille 3-3 Lyon
First goalscorer: Michy Batshuayi
Lots of attack-minded football on show, defences left to fend for themselves and a two-goal comeback in the final 10 minutes.
Sam Tighe: Marseille 1-1 Lyon
First goalscorer: Alexandre Lacazette
Lyon need a win here to further their title tilt but away against Marseille? No dice.
Will Tidey: Marseille 1-1 Lyon
First goalscorer: Alexandre Lacazette
Huge game for both sides, and I'm picking a draw—the best result for PSG as it turns out.
Mike Cummings: Marseille 1-1 Lyon
First goalscorer: Alexandre Lacazette
I think the Ligue 1 title race will go down to the wire this season, and this match could reflect how tightly packed the contenders are.
Alex Dimond: Marseille 2-2 Lyon
First goalscorer: Nabil Fekir
Perhaps neither side would be too upset with a draw, even if that helps PSG rather a lot after an already enjoyable week for them.
Roma vs. Sampdoria
5 of 6
Alex Livie: Roma 1-0 Sampdoria
First goalscorer: Francesco Totti
Roma to claim a home win thanks to a moment of magic from their talisman.
Karl Matchett: Roma 1-1 Sampdoria
First goalscorer: Radja Nainggolan
Sampdoria to show their continued push for the Champions League places has legs.
Sam Tighe: Roma 2-1 Sampdoria
First goalscorer: Juan Iturbe
It's risky to bet on Roma not drawing—against an improved Samp team, no less—but Rudi Garcia's men make a statement win.
Will Tidey: Roma 2-0 Sampdoria
First goalscorer: Gervinho
Roma to take this one with everybody's favourite ex-Gooner in the goals again.
Mike Cummings: Roma 1-1 Sampdoria
First goalscorer: Alessandro Florenzi
Roma trail Juventus by 11 points after drawing eight of their last nine league matches. Why stop now?
Alex Dimond: Roma 1-1 Sampdoria
First goalscorer: Eder
Roma are stumbling on all fronts at the moment, and Sampdoria are equipped to extend their recent run of draws.
