10 Best Golazos from World Football This Weekend

Football fans were treated to yet another plentiful weekend for golazos, with volleys proving to be especially popular. In this week's ranking—which features goals from England, Italy, Spain, France, Mexico and Brazil—half the entries are volleys.

Honourable mentions this week go to Enner Valencia for his consolation against Crystal Palace, VfL Bochum's impressive team effort, Luka Zahovic's outstanding lob, Sam Nicholson's long-ranger in Heart's 10-0 thrashing of Cowdenbeath and Marco Asensio's wonderful free-kick for Barcelona's reserves.

Here are the 10 best goals of the weekend...

10. Luis Muriel (Sampdoria) vs. Atalanta

Sampdoria boosted their chances of European qualification with a 2-1 win at Atalanta. Luis Muriel put Samp on the scoreboard in the 78th minute with a lovely strike from an impossibly tight angle.

9. Saido Berahino (West Brom) vs. Southampton

West Brom put a dent in Southampton's Champions League aspirations with a 1-0 win at the Hawthorns on Saturday. 

The winner was a beautiful left-footed volley from Saido Berahino that came after just 70 seconds. The in-form striker's tally for the season now lies at 17, of which 15 have been scored at home, as per The Guardian.

8. Sergi Darder (Malaga) vs. Getafe

Malaga built on their surprise win at the Camp Nou last week with a thrilling 3-2 home victory over Getafe on Saturday.

The pick of the goals came in the 57th minute, when 21-year-old midfielder Sergi Darder hit a wonderful strike from distance.

7. Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro (Toulouse) vs. Saint-Etienne

In what proved to be a fantastic weekend for volleys, Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro managed a superb aerial strike in Ligue 1.

The former Rochdale striker bagged an 88th-minute equaliser for Toulouse in their 1-1 draw with Saint-Etienne via a lovely half-volley from outside the area.

6. Jadson (Corinthians) vs. Mogi Mirim

Corinthians stormed to a 3-0 win over Mogi Mirim on Sunday, with the Sao Paolo side opening the scoring in style. 

Just before the hour-mark, midfielder Jadson dazzled his way past a defender on the edge of the box before unleashing an unstoppable shot.

5. Jordan Henderson (Liverpool) vs. Manchester City

Liverpool dealt Manchester City's title aspirations a huge blow with a 2-1 victory at Anfield on Sunday. The Citizens could have little complaint about the Reds' goals, both of which were truly world-class.

Jordan Henderson opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a stunning long-range shot that suggests he will be a worthy successor to Steven Gerrard.

4. Phillippe Coutinho (Liverpool) vs. Manchester City

Liverpool fans may have felt lucky to see a goal as brilliant as Henderson's, but they were treated to an even better one when Philippe Coutinho settled the tie in the 75th minute.

The Brazilian has developed a knack for wonderful goals this season, and he added to his repertoire with his sensational no-look strike over Joe Hart to win three points—and seriously damage City's title hopes.

3. Gary Gardner (Nottingham Forest) vs. Reading

A resurgent Nottingham Forest won their fifth league game in six attempts on Saturday, putting three unanswered goals past Reading.

The final strike of the afternoon was a magnificent long-ranger from substitute Gary Gardner, whose 35-yard shot rattled in off the crossbar in the 80th minute.

2. Rudy Austin (Leeds) vs. Watford

Watford's attempts to regain entry to the Premier League were bolstered on Saturday when they ended up on the right end of a 3-2 barn-stormer at Elland Road.

However, things didn't look good for the Hornets in the 19th minute when Leeds went 2-0 up via a fantastic Rudy Austin volley from the edge of the area.

1. Mauro Cejas (Morelia) vs. Chiapas

Moriela took home the points from their Liga MX clash with Chiapas on Friday, and their first goal in the 3-2 victory proved to be something special.

In the 67th minute, Mauro Cejas met a Jefferson Cuero cross with a sublime volley, marking the Argentinean's second goal for the club since signing up in January.
