Nike LeBron 12 Low 'LeBronold Palmer' Release Date Schedule and Retail Price

Joseph ZuckerFeb 26, 2015

What do you get when you combine one of the greatest living golfers with one of the greatest living basketball players? The answer is the "LeBronold Palmer," which captures the essences of both namesakes, LeBron James and Arnold Palmer.

Simply by bringing James and Palmer together, Nike ensured it was creating something sneaker lovers couldn't wait to get their hands on. It's not every day that James, a four-time Most Valuable Player and two-time NBA champion, pairs with a star like Palmer, a seven-time major champion.

Of course, this isn't the first time Nike had the two lend their names to a shoe. Back in the summer of 2012, James unveiled the LeBron 9 Low "LeBronold Palmer" on his Instagram account.

John Kim of Sneaker News wrote in April 2013 about how that edition of the LeBron 9s was made but never hit stores. As a result, demand skyrocketed, and pairs began popping up for exorbitant prices online. Kim highlighted one auction in which the seller asked for $4,999.

This time around, the list price should be a little more reasonable, while the supply should be more in line with the demand. According to Sole Collector's Brendan Dunne, the "LeBronold Palmer" will launch on March 1 and retail for $200.

For those who haven't seen the full colorway, Sole Collector provided a look at the shoe from every angle:

Many NBA fans got their first taste of the design when James wore the shoe during a practice for the 2015 NBA All-Star Game.

The "LeBronold Palmer" takes the typical framework most have come to know with the LeBron 12s and adds a nice flair as an ode to Palmer. The back even features a logo depicting an "Arnold Palmer," the drink that has become synonymous with the 85-year-old.

The outer design on the LeBron 12 Low "LeBronold Palmer" isn't quite as defined as it was with the LeBron 9 Low "LeBronold Palmer," which is nice because it helps to differentiate between the two and gives potential buyers something different this time around.

From a performance perspective, the Hex-Zoom cushioning will also offer support and ideally maximize the user's agility. Following the unveiling of the LeBron 12 line, Nike Basketball provided an explanation of what the Hex-Zoom aims to accomplish:

Nike really went for broke with this shoe, creating something that catches the eye without sacrificing on the quality end.

The "LeBronold Palmer" won't be everybody's cup of tea, but it's hard to find much fault with the shoe.
