UK Back Pages: Arsenal Hammered After Embarrassing Defeat to Monaco

Another match, another first-leg round-of-16 Champions League disappointment for Arsenal. 

The Gunners entered Wednesday night's match with grand aspirations of beating a Monaco side that's fourth in Ligue 1. 

Instead, Monaco (four goals in six group-stage matches), surprised Arsenal and punished the hosts 3-1 at Emirates Stadium. 

The back pages had a field day with the north Londoners' misfortune.

The Daily Telegraph didn't pull any punches with Arsenal.

In Mirror Sport, Dimitar Berbatov said Monaco simply wanted it more, Raheem Sterling is finally nearing a new Liverpool contract, and Vincent Kompany and Manuel Pellegrini are falling under criticism after the Barcelona defeat.

Star Sport uses a "DIMwit" headline similar to the Mirror's and reports that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino will bring a full squad to Spurs' Europa League match at Fiorentina on Thursday in spite of a League Cup final with Chelsea Sunday.
