Hope Solo Reinstated by USWNT: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

U.S. women's national soccer team goalkeeper Hope Solo has been reinstated following a 30-day suspension as of Saturday.

An official release from USSoccer.com confirmed Solo's reinstatement for the team's upcoming trip to Portugal, where the squad will participate in the Algarve Cup.

Head coach Jill Ellis weighed in on the high-profile international tournament:

The value of the Algarve Cup is of course great games against top teams in a tournament format without much rest. In any year, this tournament presents great challenges, but as we continue to progress towards the World Cup, we want to get tested at the highest possible levels. Our opponents at this tournament give us another opportunity to gauge our depth and fitness.

Solo is talented, but she has been involved in a fair share of turmoil away from the pitch. Her recent suspension was rooted in a January incident when she a was passenger in the car driven by her husband, former NFL tight end Jerramy Stevens, who was charged with driving under the influence.

That misstep cost Solo approximately a month away from her teammates. It was another mark on a record that also included domestic assault charges, which were dismissed.

Jeff Kassouf of NBCSports.com weighed in on Saturday's news:

Ashlyn Harris and Alyssa Naeher are the other two goalkeepers on the national team roster. To reference the context of Ellis' comments, the U.S. has decent depth at the position.
