10 Best Golazos from World Football This Weekend

Ryan BaileyFeb 15, 2015

Once again, world football gifted us a weekend chock-full of brilliant goals. The quality of golazos was so high that this fantastic strike from Ajax youngster Riechedly Bazoer didn't make the cut. Superb FA Cup efforts from Arsenal's Olivier Giroud, West Brom's James Morrison and Aston Villa's Leandro Bacuna also fall outside the top 10.

Also, honourable mentions must also go to Melbourne City's Kosta Barbarouses for his goal against Syndey and Helsingborgs IF's Jere Uronen for his fantastic free-kick

Without further ado, here's the weekend ranking...

10. Mario Gotze (Bayern Munich) vs. Hamburg

1 of 10

Hamburg have a rather poor record against Bayern Munich in recent matchups, a streak that continued when they were crushed 8-0 at the Allianz Arena on Saturday. It was Hamburg's heaviest league defeat ever, according to journalist Cristian Nyari, and they have now conceded 41 goals to Die Roten in their past 10 meetings.

Several of Bayern's goals were excellent, including Mario Gotze's wonderful 88th-minute strike that saw Jaroslav Drobny's goal breached for the eighth time that afternoon.

9. Fredy Guarin (Internazionale) vs. Atalanta

2 of 10

Fredy Guarin scored two world-class goals in Internazionale's 4-1 victory over Atalanta on Sunday. His first, in the 37th minute, was a lovely left-footed strike from outside the box.

But the Colombian's second goal—and Inter's third—was even more special. Picking up the ball in similar territory outside the area, Guarin proved he is truly two-footed by scoring a stunner with his right peg.

8. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Paris Saint-Germain) vs. Caen

3 of 10

Paris Saint-Germain appeared to have three points in the bag on Saturday when they went 2-0 up at home to Caen, but two goals in the dying minutes meant the points were shared.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic needed only two minutes to get the Parisians on the scoresheet, and he did so in style with a typically acrobatic stabbed volley

The Swedish talisman celebrated by showing the world his vast array of new tattoos, which were actually a publicity stunt for a world famine charity, as per the Associated Press (via the Guardian).

7. Stefan Johansen (Celtic) vs. St Johnstone

4 of 10

Celtic remained atop the Scottish Premiership with a 2-1 victory at St Johnstone on Saturday.

The winner was a very special effort from Stefan Johansen, who capitalised on some excellent build-up play to chest the ball, tee himself up for a volley and finish from a tight angle.

6. Maciej Gajos (Jagiellonia Bialystok) vs. Legia Warsaw

5 of 10

On Sunday, Legia Warsaw hosted hosted Polish Ekstraklasa title rivals Jagiellonia Bialystok. The visitors upset the league-leaders with a 3-1 victory, which was kicked off in the 12th minute by a sensational long-distance drive from striker Maciej Gajos.

5. Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich) vs. Hamburg

6 of 10

Arjen Robben scored either side of the break in Bayern's aforementioned rout over Hamburg, the first of which was a beautiful curling shot from outside the area.

Every defender in the world must know that the Dutchman likes to cut in on his left foot and take a shot, but it doesn't mean they can stop him.

4. Bas Dost (Wolfsburg) vs. Bayer Leverkusen

7 of 10

Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg played out a strong contender for the Bundesliga match of the season on Saturday. Die Wolfe edged the contest, 5-4, thanks to a 94th-minute strike from Bas Dost, who had already found the net three times.

In the 29th minute, the Dutchman met a low Kevin De Bruyne cross with a stunning side-footed placement.

It was a very good day at the office for Dost, whose winner was an impressive volley.

Wolfsburg's other goal, incidentally, was a very good free-kick from Naldo.

3. Luis Suarez (Barcelona) vs. Levante

8 of 10

Barcelona maintained their one-point deficit to Real Madrid at the top of La Liga on Sunday with a convincing 5-0 win over Levante.

It was another quiet week for Leo Messi—who only managed the 23rd league hat-trick of his career and a record-breaking assist—but the show was well and truly stolen by Luis Suarez, who bagged the Blaugrana's fifth in the 73rd minute with a stunning overhead kick.

2. Osvaldo Martinez (Club America) vs. Chiapas

9 of 10

America stormed to a 5-0 victory over Liga MX rivals Jaguars on Saturday, with Osvaldo Martinez scoring the opener in style.

In the sixth minute, the Paraguay midfielder spotted the keeper off his line and proceeded to chip the ball over him from just inside the Jaguars' half.

1. Lewis Stevenson (Hibernian) vs. Rangers

10 of 10

Rangers lost 2-0 to Scottish Championship title rivals Hibernian at Ibrox on Friday night. The visitors' second was an absolute stunner from Lewis Stevenson, who reacted to a cross coming over his shoulder with a sublime volley
