Blind Injures Eye vs. Burnley

Wednesday, Feb. 11

Manchester United's Premier League clash on Wednesday took a heavy toll on Louis van Gaal's squad, as Daley Blind followed Phil Jones to the dressing room in the first half with a head injury.

As shared by the club's official Twitter account, he was replaced by Ander Herrera after suffering a cut above his left eye:

Manchester United added from Louis van Gaal that "Blind has a headache and I don't think he is out of the game on Monday [in the FA Cup against Preston North End]."

Blind seemed to have problems with his vision—insert pun here—after suffering a knock to the head earlier in the first half, and the problem seemed to worsen after he returned to the pitch following treatment.

The Dutch international played the role of hero for United on several occasions in the past few weeks, and he seemed to be the only midfielder holding his own against Burnley's athletic group on Saturday. His unfortunate injury did open the door for Herrera to get some significant minutes.

Blind will likely be tested for a concussion after the match, but given the fact he was able to play for a few minutes before being substituted, one has to assume he won't be out for too long.
