Real Madrid stars James Rodriguez and Sami Khedira reportedly will be fined after attending Cristiano Ronaldo's birthday celebration following Los Blancos' 4-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid.

As reported by Spanish publication Cuatro (h/t Eurosport), the pair face financial reprimand "after ignoring medical advice" from the club's doctors. Rodriguez underwent an operation on his broken metatarsal "just 48 hours before the party," according to Eurosport.

Khedira, who has spent much of the last 15 months struggling with injury, is expected to miss the next three weeks with yet another problem, per Marca. Prior to reports of an alleged fine, the German midfielder confirmed he wouldn't disrespect Ronaldo by not showing up:

"If Ronaldo invites me, it is a sign of respect to actually attend," he told Bild (h/t Stefan Coerts of Goal). "And it was not really a party, it was just dinner. I did not drink any alcohol all evening and went home at 1:30 a.m CET."

Ronaldo's decision to throw a bash was largely condemned after Los Blancos' defeat in the derby, per Alec Fenn of Goal. Former Real star Luis Figo advised people to lay off the 2014 Ballon d'Or winner:

As reported by Eurosport, Luka Modric is also said to have attended, but reportedly will escape a fine after "personally apologising" to Madrid officials.
