American soccer legend Landon Donovan's playing career recently reached its conclusion, but the former Los Angeles Galaxy star is continuing his winning ways off the pitch.
The 32-year-old retiree had plenty to say about his post-soccer life in a Facebook post Tuesday. He revealed that he has been traveling across the world and that he is also planning to enroll in college. In addition to all of that, Donovan announced his engagement to girlfriend Hannah Bartell.
"Lastly, and most importantly, I recently got engaged to the love of my life, Hannah. I have never been this happy and I'm excited for our future together," Donovan wrote.
The future husband and wife have already been congratulated by many on social media, including ESPN.com's Wayne Drehs:
This will be Donovan's second marriage, as he was previously married to actress Bianca Kajlich from 2006 to 2010.
Donovan played the last competitive soccer match of his career in December when he went out on top by helping the Galaxy win the MLS Cup. It was a fitting conclusion for perhaps the greatest American soccer player of all time.
Many wondered if Donovan would be able to find fulfillment after walking away from the game at a relatively young age, but there is little doubt that he is enjoying the next chapter of his life.
With plenty of wedding preparations to come, Donovan will certainly have a full plate in front of him even in retirement.
