Balague: Simeone '100 Percent Staying' with Atletico

Tuesday, Feb. 10

Simeone is "staying" with Atletico Madrid for at least one more season and will not abandon his squad to take over City, according to Sky Sports' Guillem Balague.

The Spanish football expert addressed reports suggesting Simeone will replace Pellegrini on Sky Sports' Revista de la Liga show. When asked to discuss the chances of Simeone heading to England, he said the following:

"

None. Because he’s staying. 100 percent he’s staying He’s staying partly because he sees the club developing so there’s a lot of money coming in from China as we know. And partly because he got Fernando Torres and he’s told Torres he will stay one more year.

Atletico are currently third in the Spanish top flight, four points behind their Real Madrid neighbours. The Vicente Calderon side obliterated Real 4-0 during Saturday's derby to give themselves an outside hope of retaining the domestic crown.

While it appears unlikely Atletico will retain their title this season, Simeone's brand of fiery, disciplined football ensures they always have a chance of upsetting Real or Barcelona.
