Ramon Sessions to Wizards: Latest Trade Details, Comments and Reaction
In an effort to improve their backcourt depth, the Washington Wizards agreed to a deal on Thursday with the Sacramento Kings to acquire veteran guard Ramon Sessions in exchange for Andre Miller.
Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news, and the Wizards would later confirm:
Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld commented on the acquisition via the team's press release:
"Ramon is a proven veteran who will bring an up-tempo style to our second unit and give us quickness, energy and defensive presence," said Grunfeld. "He can make plays for himself as well as others and will help to solidify our bench as we head into the final 28 games of the season and the playoffs.
"
Sessions' numbers are down almost across the board this season, but it's worth noting he battled a back injury for much of the first half of the season, missing 13 consecutive games during a stretch in December and early January.
When healthy, the eighth-year pro, who can play either guard position, is adept at slashing to the rim, where he's proficient at getting to the free-throw line or finding an open teammate.

For his career, he is averaging 16.1 points, 6.5 assists and 6.1 free-throw attempts per 36 minutes, according to Basketball-Reference.com.
At just 28 years old, it's much easier to blame his recent struggles on his injury rather than a sudden drop-off in ability. He isn't great on defense, and he's only a 30.4 percent three-point shooter for his career, but at the very least, he brings an offensive punch to the second unit.
As for the Kings, Darren Collison will continue to play most of the minutes at point guard, while second-year player Ray McCallum becomes his backup. Rookie Nik Stauskas should also see a slight uptick in minutes off of the bench.
