How Twitter Reacted to a Whacky Day in the FA Cup

Sean SwabyJan 24, 2015

What a day it was, indeed, in the FA Cup.

Consider:

  • Manchester City fell to Championship side Middlesbrough, 2-0.
  • Chelsea fell to League One side Bradford, 4-2.
  • Liverpool drew against Championship side Bolton, 0-0.
  • Third-place Southampton fell to 13th-place Crystal Palace, with all three goals coming off the boots of Arsenal castoffs, Marouane Chamakh and on-loan Yaya Sanogo
  • Fifth-place Tottenham fell to last-place Leicester City.

They call it "The Magic of the FA Cup," and apparently, there's a bit of truth behind the cliche.

Let's see how the Internet reacted to one of the wilder days of football in recent memory.

A look at the day's scorelines were something to behold.

Manchester City were reminded of a far crueler defeat to Middlesbrough at the end of the 2008 season.

Chelsea's collapse after building a 2-0 half-time lead was cause for much ridicule.

It also took a bit of the not-so-favourable spotlight off Manchester United's 0-0 draw to minnows Cambridge United from Friday night.

Arsenal had a good laugh, too, although they haven't met their lower-division opposition of Brighton & Hove Albion.

I hope I speak for all Arsenal fans when I say: Hahahahahahaahahahahahaahahahahaahahah #facup
