10 Best Golazos from World Football This Weekend
On some weekends, a dearth in quality strikes in the professional game makes it difficult to produce a golazo ranking.
This was not one of those weekends.
There were so many fantastic goals that Gylfi Sigurdsson's brilliant long-ranger against Blackburn doesn't make the top 10. Royston Drenthe's thunderbolt for new club Kayseri Erciyesspor doesn't make the cut, and neither does this sublime piece of skill from Real Valladolid's Jonathan Pereira against Mallorca in the Spanish Segunda Division.
So here are the weekend's best goals. Sit back and enjoy.
10. Neymar (Barcelona) vs. Elche
1 of 10
Barcelona kept pace with Real Madrid at the top of La Liga this weekend with a rousing 6-0 win at Elche.
Neymar scored a brace, with his second coming from a fine volley set up by a wonderful assist from Lionel Messi.
It was the Brazilian's 14th goal in 17 league appearances for the Blaugrana this season, per ESPN FC.
9. Sergio Blanco (Sporting Cristal) vs. LDU Quito
2 of 10Ecuadorian sides Sporting Cristal and LDU Quito faced each other in a friendly on Saturday night that resulted in an entertaining 2-2 draw.
The best moment of the match was almost certainly the opening goal in the fifth minute, executed in style by veteran Uruguayan striker Sergio Blanco. The overhead kick may have been preceded by an almighty shove of the defender marking him, but little can be taken away from his effort.
8. Jon Stead (Bradford) vs. Chelsea

There was no shortage of shocks in the FA Cup over the weekend, but one of the biggest in recent memory came at Stamford Bridge, where League One's Bradford ended Chelsea's run of 27 unbeaten FA Cup games at home, per The Telegraph.
Jon Stead struck the Bantams' first goal of their unexpected 4-2 victory in the 41st minute. The 31-year-old striker beat Petr Cech with an absolute rocket into the top-right corner.
7. Carles Gil (Aston Villa) vs. Bournemouth
4 of 10
Aston Villa progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 home win over Championship leaders Bournemouth on Sunday.
The Villans' new boy Carles Gil scored the opener with a tremendous curling shot from the edge of the area in the 51st minute.
Few Premier League fans had heard of the young Spaniard before his arrival from Valencia, but he is shaping up to be a promising signing.
6. Tomas Rosicky (Arsenal) vs. Brighton & Hove Albion
5 of 10
FA Cup holders Arsenal edged a five-goal thriller at Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday thanks in part to a magnificent performance from Tomas Rosicky.
The Czech midfielder set up the Gunners' second goal and scored the third with a wonderful volley from the edge of the area.
5. Paul Pogba (Juventus) vs. Chievo
6 of 10
Paul Pogba simply cannot stop scoring amazing goals.
The French midfielder is one of the most familiar faces on this golazo ranking, and during Juventus' 2-0 win over Chievo on Sunday, he bagged a stunner for the third consecutive week.
Pogba's left-footed drive on the hour mark is yet another reason why he is wanted by most major European clubs right now.
4. Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich) vs VfL Bochum
7 of 10
The Bundesliga makes its welcome return next weekend, with Bayern Munich gearing up for the return of competitive fixtures with a warm-up against second-tier VfL Bochum.
Die Roten came away 5-1 winners, with Arjen Robben bagging his side's first and fourth goals.
The latter was a typically stunning strike from the Dutchman, who lined up an unstoppable left-footed strike from the edge of the area.
3. Bilal Ould-Chikh (FC Twente) vs. Heracles
8 of 10Bilal Ould-Chikh has broken into FC Twente's first team this season, a position the 17-year-old striker is likely to keep after his performance against Heracles on Friday night.
In the 88th minute, the precocious Dutchman struck across goal in stunning fashion to hand Twente a 2-0 lead.
2. Isaias Sanchez (Adelaide Utd) vs. Newcastle Jets
9 of 10Newcastle Jets will want to forget Saturday's trip to Adelaide United as quickly as possible, as the troubled Australian A-League side were on the receiving end of a 7-0 shellacking.
The final nail in the coffin came in the fourth minute of injury time, when Spanish midfielder Isaias Sanchez unleashed a 25-yard short that boasted a beautifully curved trajectory.
1. Victor Curto (Eupen) vs. Racing Mechelen
10 of 10The weekend's greatest goal occurred on Friday evening in the Belgian Second Division. AS Eupen defeated relegation-troubled Racing Mechelen 5-1, with Spanish striker Victor Curto keeping the match ball when he scored the home side's first three goals.
Curto's finest was an absolutely sensational left-footed volley from a corner, which is likely to be regarded as one of the best strikes in Europe this season.
Take a bow, son.
