Adrian Chiles Replaced as ITV's Lead Football Presenter with Immediate Effect
Adrian Chiles' spell as ITV's lead football presenter is over.
The Daily Mail reported on Thursday that Chiles has been let go by the channel with "immediate effect."
Journalist Charles Sale said in his piece that "ITV will not comment on the reasons for his departure."
Chiles will be replaced by experienced broadcaster Mark Pougatch, who has worked mostly for BBC radio—presenting sport on their 5 Live network.
He has also presented IPL cricket and African Cup of Nations football for ITV.
Pougatch said of his appointment:
"I am absolutely delighted to be joining ITV and to be given this great opportunity.
I'm looking forward to working with ITV's talented pool of commentators and pundits on some of the very best football there is.
"
Chiles joined ITV from the BBC in 2010 in a high-profile move.
However, he has not always been a hit with fans, some of whom took great delight when news of his departure was announced.

He is the third member of ITV's football team to be let go recently.
Pundit Andy Townsend left the channel by mutual consent and presenter Matt Smith was told his contract would not be renewed at the end of the season.
