Stephanie Roche Talks About That Photo with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo

Irish women's footballer Stephanie Roche may not have won the Puskas Award at the recent Ballon d'Or ceremony, but she certainly turned a few heads.

Not least the heads of the two most famous players on the planet, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who were caught eyeing Roche up in a now-iconic photograph that was shared around the world.

Roche was on Irish chat show The Late Late Show on Friday and asked about the photograph by host Ryan Tubridy.

She laughed, as per the Journal.ie (h/t Eurosport):

There might have been something on the ground that caught their eye. My friends texted me after the awards and said ‘don’t be too disappointed because you had two of the best footballers in the world eyeing you up’. That is something to take from it. I got their attention a little bit maybe.

"

Roche got the world's attention for her truly brilliant goal for Peamount United against Wexford Youths.

She finished second in the voting behind Colombia star James Rodriguez.
