David Ginola's Bid to Become FIFA President Ridiculed on Twitter as PR Stunt
On Thursday night reports emerged that former Tottenham and Newcastle star David Ginola was set to challenge Sepp Blatter for the role of FIFA president.
What at first seemed like intriguing news quickly turned into farce for many, when it was revealed that bookmakers Paddy Power were heavily behind the campaign.

The Irish bookmakers are known for their pranks, and it seemed like many people in the media, and many more at home, were not buying into Ginola's campaign by the time he turned up for Friday's press conference to officially launch his campaign.
A pretty typical sample of the reactions below.
"Congratulations to David Ginola for managing to debase himself in an even more gratuitous way than those L'Oreal ads.

"David Ginola has confirmed he is being paid by @paddypower to run for FIFA presidency in name of anti-corruption. The hypocrisy....

There are plenty of people who would like to see Sepp Blatter replaced as FIFA president, but if the instant reaction from people on Twitter is anything to go by, then David Ginola is not the man to do it.
