Getafe vs. Real Madrid: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info and Preview
Real Madrid will hope that La Liga comforts will help put the Copa del Rey elimination to city rivals Atletico Madrid behind them and Getafe are the team who could be on the end of a Los Blancos backlash.

A Fernando Torres brace at the Santiago Bernabeu means Real won’t defend the domestic cup competition this season, but Carlo Ancelotti’s men are still well placed in Spain’s top flight. Going into the weekend the European champions are sitting pretty atop the La Liga standings, one point clear of Barcelona with a game in hand.

Getafe are toiling down in 14th spot coming into this one but traditionally they’re a team who have sprung a few shocks over the top sides in recent years. The fact they’ve not won a La Liga game since October does not bode well for them, though.
Here’s all the information you need on where to catch this one and a look at both teams:
Date: Sunday, Jan. 18

Getafe Searching For Overdue Three Points

This has been a season to forget for Getafe. They are a bright side that contain a host of vibrant players, but two terrible runs of form have really hampered their cause as they look to push towards the top end of the La Liga standings.
Quique Flores’ team lost four of their opening five games to get things off to an awful start and, although they regrouped during October, Getafe are currently on a nine-game winless run. As noted by OptaJose ahead of their recent loss to Rayo Vallecano, Flores’ side don’t have the best record against teams from Madrid either:
It’s difficult to see that changing this weekend, even if the Coliseum Alfonso Perez is likely to provide a raucous backdrop for their illustrious visitors. Real know that league success is imperative after being dumped out of the Copa and Ancelotti will have his team fired up for a huge response in this one.

It’ll be intriguing to see what kind of condition star forward Cristiano Ronaldo is in for this game, though. During the recent match with Atletico the 29-year-old looked as though he may be carrying an injury and revealed afterwards it could be a while before we see him back at his very best, per Jose Luis Guerrero of AS:
"I’m not from another planet. Maybe I’m not in perfect condition, but I will be.
The knee issue is in the past, I’m used to playing with pain. In two or three weeks I’ll be fine and so will the team.
"

Even with a Ronaldo not quite at full tilt, Real should have more than enough to get the better of Getafe. Indeed, it could represent an ideal opportunity for some of the team's other attacking talents to step up.
Gareth Bale is a player who will be looking to make a big impression after coming in for some criticism of late. As noted by sports journalist Raj Bains, it looks as though the Welshman is trying too hard to be selfless after accusations of selfishness recently:

On paper, this is the ideal game for Los Blancos to get on track, for being away from what was a volatile Santiago Bernabeu will take some of the pressure off Real. Plus, in Getafe they face opponents devoid of any kind of confidence and a team who simply don’t have enough to nullify Madrid’s vast array of attacking talent.
With prematurely hyperbolic talk of crisis around the league leaders, expect a big performance from Ancelotti’s side.
Prediction: Getafe 0-4 Real Madrid
