Amway Coaches Poll 2015: Final Ranking Released After Championship Game
Ohio State used its National Championship Game victory over Oregon to win the first College Football Playoff and now adds another accolade as it finishes atop the final Amway Coaches Poll. The Ducks finished second.
Here's how the final rankings break down, as passed along by USA Today:
| 1 | Ohio State | 1550 |
| 2 | Oregon | 1477 |
| 3 | TCU | 1408 |
| 4 | Alabama | 1363 |
| 5 | Michigan State | 1282 |
| 6 | Florida State | 1262 |
| 7 | Georgia Tech | 1136 |
| 8 | Baylor | 1135 |
| 9 | Georgia | 1018 |
| 10 | UCLA | 909 |
| 11 | Missouri | 907 |
| 12 | Mississippi State | 799 |
| 13 | Wisconsin | 765 |
| 14 | Arizona State | 750 |
| 15 | Clemson | 733 |
| 16 | Boise State | 627 |
| 17 | Arizona | 574 |
| 18 | Kansas State | 556 |
| 19 | Ole Miss | 444 |
| 20 | Utah | 331 |
| 21 | USC | 297 |
| 22 | Marshall | 178 |
| 23 | Auburn | 167 |
| 24 | Louisville | 113 |
| 25 | Memphis | 93 |
Ohio State received all 62 first-place votes in the final poll. It's also noted that the Buckeyes were ranked no higher than fourth at any point during the season until now.
They capped off the late charge by holding off Oregon on Monday night. The Ducks had fought back within one point midway through the third quarter before three straight touchdowns by Ezekiel Elliott allowed the underdogs to pull away with the upset.
Chris Low of ESPN provided comments from head coach Urban Meyer after the game about what winning a championship meant.
"I'm humbled ... and appreciate the people who did it, and that's our players," Meyer said. "I made a comment and will never forget something Bill Parcells said: It's like a blood transfer. We're officially brothers for the rest of our lives because we're champions."
Among the other rankings of note, a TCU squad that was left out of the playoff in favor of Ohio State leaped over two CFP teams (Alabama and Florida State) to finish third. The Horned Frogs crushed Ole Miss in their bowl game.
USC, Marshall and Memphis tied for the biggest jump, gaining six spots each. Kansas State suffered the biggest drop, losing eight spots to conclude the season at No. 18 after a loss to UCLA in the Alamo Bowl. Ole Miss dropped seven spots.
While Oregon's season ended in heartache once more, the team can take heart to know that they'll be returning a number of impact players on both sides of the ball. Even so, they could have questions to answer in the coming year should quarterback Marcus Mariota elect to go pro. TCU can also be encouraged by the way their season ended, and with quarterback Trevone Boykin potentially sticking around, the Horned Frogs will have national title hopes next year.
Of course, given the high number of impact players Ohio State is expected to return, the Buckeyes could very well start next season where they end this one: on top.
