Cristiano Ronaldo won the Ballon d'Or on Monday, to the surprise of very few. 

But even though he came in second place, Lionel Messi wound up in the headlines after casting further doubt over his Barcelona future by saying he doesn't know where he'll be next season. 

The words have the rumour mill churning again, as The Guardian links Messi with an outlandish move to Manchester United.
