Top Players to Watch
Jeff Smith II, QB, South (Committed to Boston College)
One of the players to watch closest on Saturday is Clearwater Central Catholic High School quarterback Jeff Smith II. The South quarterback has already committed to Boston College, but fans of the sport will get their first chance to see him under serious pressure.
According to the 247Sports' composite rankings, Smith is a three-star prospect that is ranked 1,173 overall in the nation, ranked 98th overall at his position (he is listed as an athlete entering college) and 166th overall in the state of Florida.
The highlight film shows a quarterback with elite scrambling ability and a solid decision-making process. While there are still questions about his strength and durability at just 6’1” and 170 pounds, his speed and finesse are unquestionable.
Whether Boston College keeps Smith as a quarterback or finds another way to use the talented playmaker, the program should be much better offensively with a prospect of his caliber joining the team.
Zeke Martin, OT, North (Committed to Illinois)
There are few offensive linemen in the 2015 Blue-Grey All American Bowl with the sheer size and power that Medina High School offensive tackle Zeke Martin possesses. At 6’5” and 280 pounds, there will be few defensive players on the South team that will be able to move Martin.
According to the 247Sports' composite rankings, the three-star prospect is ranked 1,417th overall, 145th in the nation for offensive linemen and the 63rd-ranked prospect from the state of Ohio.
As seen in the highlight footage, Martin is a bulldozer on the outside and a dominant force in the rushing attack. While he will need to continue working on his pass-blocking abilities, there is no doubt that the Illinois commit will be a dominant force for the program.
Football fans get to see him on Saturday before he makes an impact at the collegiate level.
